I find it rather hard to reach to faction goal of 1000 cr.
Yesterday I played two games (in Cosworths awesome campaign), and won both. The first with 2-1 I got 850 cr with 10 casualties I got 200 as bonus. Second game I won 2-0 and took out the entire other crew in two turn, but with only 2 green crewmen from me and his veteran crew that is only 600 cr. I didn't roll any bonus.
Against a veteran crew it is in fact impossible unless you are very lucky and you still have to kill of some of your own crew. A veteran crew is 2 x 150 and 2 x 100 with max bonus of 400 and you need luck to even get 100 in bonus from 4 casualties. This totals 500 to 900.
So what is the trick to achieve the 1000?

I know it's not really a consolation but the Apostles of Del'Rathi are even worse off. After killing off my entire crew my opponent earned a whopping 200 credits. My mercs earned 150 credits from killing one model.

Granted, I haven't read the rules yet, but is this by any chance evened out by the Pirates generally being larger and thus having an easier time generally fulfilling objectives that require a model to carry/activating/searching something?
Otherwise the solution may be suicide bombers...

Well suiciding my entire crew each battle to achieve one of three objectives don't seems reasonable nor balanced. Bounty Hunters need to take one regular+ individual out of battle with non-lethal weapons to get 1000 cr - or two if they use lethal weapons. Pirates get about 100-150 (+ 1 in 6 chance of a bonus of 100) for each unit they take out. So take my example above I kill of his entire crew in 2 turns and thus I now have to start executing my own crewmembers to get my faction goal and are not even sure to achieve it. Mercenaries are also a little funky since they need to take out 2/3 of the other crew to win, this seems to mean that they will win more when they win and never get it when they lose (win/lose I mean the primary objective). An example Pirates vs Merc (just for this example we say both get their secondary objective): 1 Battle: Pirates win the primary objective and destroys most of the Merc crew, not really loosing much of the Pirate crew: Pirates win 2-1 (not being able to get the Pirate Objective) 2 Battle: Merc win primary objective killing off most of the Pirates, but the Pirates roll no bonus even with 12 models dead so he don't get his objective, merc win 3-1. Seems when Merc win they win more Pirates need at least 10-12 dead and still be sorta lucky on the dice to get the objective. Also the numbers advantage is balanced by them being of a rather lacking quality when it comes to stat line and gear choices compared to individuals. And that the crew is rather easy get into a total rout where everyone runs crying for their mothers Pirates are then even more penalized by special rules. So I don't think the balance are supposed to be in this particular rule, I think I might just be missing something, or maybe it really is just totally luck based and you can only win if you roll a incredible lucky amount of bonus credits (while still needing to get a lot of models taken out of combat). Anyways since I am such a fierce Pirate its perfectly fine, I will just have to win all battle 2-1 or 2-0 Yarrr!

I have the same problem. 850 cr. also in Cosworth awesome campaign! 8 guys in total died. rolle 1/8. My opponent did manage to get his 500+500 bonus as a bounty hunter. I managed to win, but it was very close. My secondary obejtctive was easy. Defend. And I used spy on his secondary objective. very useful 2-1, yaaaaar!

I finally managed a faction objective and won the game 4-0.
Cosworth suggested I take the Dirty Trick: Tertiary Objective, this way it doesn't matter as much that I have a hard time with the Faction Objective since there is still a good chance of getting 3 pts in a game. It was a good idea since in the game against him I won 2-1 because of that*. Now that explains how I was able to get 4 pts.
So how to get 1000+ as a pirate? Kill everyone AND roll very lucky: There was 7 casualties 3 veterans (3x150), 3 regular (3x100) and 1 green (50) this totals 800, but I rolled a lucky 3 bonus rolls netting 1100 total credits. Now one bonus on seven can be expected, but that would not have been enough and there really was only one other way to get the last need 100 then and that is to kill off two of my own crewmen ... seems a little excessive to have to execute your own mates in the last turn to be able to get you goal, and that still takes wiping out an entire veteran crew, but the last man - and him killing of both my Space Dogs. In conclusion you will rarely get your faction objective unless you bring a pair of Space Dogs and make sure they die - and you still need to get lucky.
*Would have been 3-1, but I made a couple of stupid mistakes ... on the other hand Cosworth rolled a lot of 1's so it might have gone the other way - anyways what happened was I forgot to that I had to run out of the battle with the loot before end game, not just stand around with it, so in the last turn it was a crazy run for the edge, had I activated my last Human Crewman first he could have charged and thus prevented Cosworth's rocket launcher with smart missiles from Suppressing my Captain, forcing my captain to go into cover instead of just running out with his loot.

Clearly Pirates are overpowered, they never seem to lose

I tried the Dirty Trick: Teritary Objective too. Won 3-0. Again, didn't get my Faction Objective, so I just swapped it. 1/9 credits for the headcount. Thanks for the tip

Clearly Pirates are overpowered, they never seem to lose I love running pirates! I seem to lose a lot, but that's probably just me. As long as I'm having fun, I don't really care though.

My mercs earned 150 credits from killing one model. Yep. You're right. The faction with the easiest chance of meeting their objective is probably the Zedarii Slavers. But they have other limitations that make playing them an interesting challenge. But what else would you expect from Nibelung inspired slavers with cyborg slave girls and cyborg animals for troops
