The cash you saved on the room you will spend on a cab. It was $20.00 one way. Check into a car rental.

yes one year i remember that we were stationed in the middle of nowhere cab fare cost $30-40 each way! This was both good and bad because everyone in the group went in around 8-9am and didn't leave till midnight or later on everyday (except sunday of course).

Anybody that's driven before have an idea what parking downtown might cost? No idea. Seemed as if there was a lot of it at the mall near the convention centre. Mind you, check the NFL schedule. If there is a Colts game you won't be able to get parking downtown at all.

In the past it was like $20+ a day in the official convention center garage. We had found a lot over by the White Castle (4 blocks away to the southeast) that used to be $4 a day. But neither were an overnight lot. There used to be a weblink parking map over at the gencon forums that had all the lots and parking rates.

If you can get a few buddies to share a room or stay at the same hotel than a cab is the best bet. $20 bucks one way split between two or three is not a bad deal when you consider what you save in hotel expense.

I'll have to confer with my roomie on what he wants to do. Sounds like cabbing it is the way to go though. I know cabs are right out front of the convention center, so going back to the hotel is probably fine, but how prompt are they coming out to the hotel? How long do they take, generally? Never really relied on a cab before for transportation. BTW, what is this year's swag mini going to be? Is it August yet...?

I've never had to wait too long for a taxi at the Indy airport, so I imagine it shouldn't be too long. You might even be able to set up a pre-arranged time with the company if you know what time you want to head in.
(Only four months - and a few days - till GenCon)

We would go to the front desk in the morning call a cab have some free food and than head out.
The free mini's this year will be the German "One Man Army" or a Special Bounty miniature.
