I would like to thank both of you for a really fun game last night. I really had a blast learning the game, and I promise this: the monkeys will have their day! Whenever they can actually make it to a target that is.
I'll be posting some kind of report this weekend. Feel free to add anything i miss. My memory isn't what it used to be.
And one final question: Would either of you be available Sunday afternoon May 17th? I found out I'm free for the afternoon, so I'll be looking for another game if either of you are free.
Thanks again.

Pencil me in for the 17th. It looks like I'm free right now. Another game would be great.
And the monkeys will have their day, provided you bring a vehicle to get to into the fight. And a lot of fuel for the vehicle. And a GPS because you set up in another state ;D

Monkeys driving the car, lots of pictures in my head about that.
As for the setup, what do you expect? I set up the monkeys first. I forgot that they didn't have map reading in school.
I'll pencil you in. It would be fun to get some more games in. Who knows, I may even remember to take some pictures for the forums this time.

Chuck,
If you do come up with a monkey mobile, maybe with a poo flinging catapault attachment...it will become a moral imperative for you to play with it.
But the combination of forces that we played, a russian experimental, a german experimental and an american recon detachment, was great fun.
I really think that battle would have been longer and even more fun in a city. Or on the weird space hulk table at Legions.
Big lessons for me in the first time playing a bunch of scouts... The mostly vet and regular mix worked great. I didn't even miss my elites. The dogs were killed so quickly I didn't really get to use them, but I expect if I set them back from the machine gun more and take advantage of more cover it will be different next time. I under-estimated how well the germans could see my troops through all of the trees. That's probably a side effect of playing too much Warmachine and Hordes. You take stuff like cover for granted. Also, I won't neglect to bring a vehicle next time. It was the fair thing to do given what we did, but I can see how the addition of a bike or a jeep would have made it a much more even match against the elite germans. Every german was wiped off the board and every american but my vet. officer had either died or run off the table by the end of the game.
I'm still not sure how to handle alternating activation with three players. The I-Go-You-Go worked easy for multiple players, but it wasn't like the normal AE games. Too static. Any thoughts?

The way we played Friday night was fun, and quick. I would like to try the alternating rounds with 3 players to see what downfalls there are. I have successfully pulled that off with warmachine, but the players have to really pay attention to what is going on. Also, it would be a good idea to use the tokens we have to keep track of units that have/haven't gone, otherwise that may hinder the game. As for how it works, basically the same way we did it. John would go with one unit, then I would go with one unit, then you would go with one unit, then back to the top again. It really didn't matter to me since i placed my units in Siberia and took 2 rounds to get to the battle.
Like I was saying on Friday, it doesn't bother me that we changed that part, I was just a little confused with it being my first game.
And after reading, there were some drive things I think we may have goofed up.
But the important thing is that we really had a blast playing.

But the important thing is that we really had a blast playing. Yup. Next time, we'll get the hang of it all. See you soon. -Chris
