Like many, I am a fan of Captain America. I decided I needed to have my own OSS Agent Captain America and the corresponding SD Agent Red Skull. I feel Cap is more suited for OSS than an officer, and so I modeled him with a pistol. Both of these are the Heroscape figures, as when I looked at pictures, they appear to have much more detail than any Heroclix figure. I was able to find them both on ebay for less than $11 total, including postage. Unfortunately, both figures seemed too tall when I first received them - particularly in the legs. I ended up shortening both of them by removing sections of their lower legs (it was really the only location I could choose on the Skull) and I think it's an improvement - and the legs don't seem stunted. They're still slightly taller than Darkson figures, considering superheroes should probably be on the "tall" side. One large problem I had with the Captain America figure is that he was carrying his shield on his right arm, so I had to cut it off and remove it. I re-did his right arm with a Heroclix forearm and a leftover pistol hand from a Darkson figure. On the Red skull, I replaced his left hand with a Rohlihsoldat hand, and swapped in an MP40 from a bits box. Overall, I'm quite pleased with how they turned out, and at least one of them should get in game next weekend.

They do indeed look pretty nifty. Are you just using straight OSS and SD agent rules for them, or are you giving them super powers rules?

I'm just going to use the regular rules for them. The "A" on Captain America is raised on the plastic - so it was fairly easy to paint.

Those are really good. You can't tell that you had to shorten the legs, they look so good.

Both are lovely. I especially like Captain America though. Clean paint job that contrasts well with the dull green of the army guys.
I must find something similar for the Brits. Maybe a Dark Age Arthurian warlord type.

Isn't there a Cpt. Britain? I don't think he is WWII-era, though. I can think of some pretty cool English comic characters (from 2000 AD, mostly) but none of them are from WWII. "Charley's War" was really good but that was WWI and he wasn't a bad-ass or anything, just a regular soldier (part of what made it so good.) Edit: I just found out that the comic did touch on WWII. Charley was evacuated from Dunkirk along with his son and then he decides to quit soldiering because he is too old. They were reprinting them in the Judge Dredd Megazine a few years back and I had stopped reading monthly comics before the end of the story. On the same topic, Fiends of the Eastern front was a pretty good series that dealt with a German soldier in Russia Fighting along side (and against) Romanian vampires. Great Weird War stuff.

The British hero you're looking for is Union Jack. Lawndart, great work. I've got my own Cap on the way, but your painting is soundly better. Much less your converting powers.

"Charley's War" was really good but that was WWI and he wasn't a bad-ass or anything, just a regular soldier (part of what made it so good.) bestofbattle.sevenpennynightmare.co.uk/strips/stripsindex/onlineindex.htmLoads of British WW2 characters there. British comics are full of heroes, many dating from or fighting in WW2 (Alan Moore's 'Albion' or Paul Grist's 'Jack Staff' feature most of them). You need to hunt up old comics like Battle, Victor, Rover, Skipper, Hotspur, Adventure, Wizard etc. Stories ranged from a secret Nazi base at the North Pole led by a nameless steel masked Prussian to dropping Lions on parachutes into occupied territory. Giant spiked sabotage balls, robots, ghosts, winged pilots, a Nazi Human Torpedo, a fake Sea Mine with a spy inside. Just about everything really. Popular strips like Eagle (assassin), Codename: Warlord (spy), I Flew With Braddock (pilot), V for Vengeance (the Deathless men- escapees from Nazi prison camps who were supplied with British arms and who had no names but Jack) and so on. More details if you're interested. Incidentally the superhero Blade's backstory (yup, that Blade, the Wesley Snipes one) had him born in the UK before WW2. Black British Vampire? I'm just saying...

To be fair, The Captain America and Red Skull figures are fairly well painted out of the box...much better than any heroclix figures. I just touched them up a bit.

I used to play Heroscape like mad, and yeah, some of their figs aren't bad. The Marvel ones in particular are nice.

I like your touch-ups. Just had a look at the Heroscape site and I must say, yours looks better (although, to be fair, Captain America is prolly the best painted of the Marvel Heroes on the site...).
