Hello everyone!
There are so many nations mentioned in this threads, but nothing about mine, so here it is. I don't know what's in the developers head about Hungary, but I have a few thoughts.
Since hungarians are big inventors (or at least we like to think this ;D), the germans should employ lot of hungarian scientist, or even establish science facilities here. In returne we should get a few licenses, for example german handweapons, heavy tanks or aeroplanes. I don't know that the germans had gave away their biological invetions, but I think hungary wouldn't use any of these, since we wasn't so comitted to Germany. (and since I just don't want to see any hungarian junkies whit respirators ;D)
Hungary should help Germany in Russia, since the 2. hungarian army was out there originally. I will think about the looks and units, and write those too soon.
Love to hear some respondes, especially other hungarian's (if theres any other ones here)!

Great stuff. Keep the ideas flowing. What types of units would you like to see? Any Occult units?

Hungart definately has serious potential for occult units. Having done the Romanians I feel they are very open for expansion, particuarly with dissidents and Communists.

I definately love to see some Eastern European countries who side with Germany. Romania with sort of vampire units and aristocrats who work with the Germans. Hungarians who create crazy technological gifts for the Germans. Perhaps some Hungarian Hero figure who has all sorts of weird technological upgrades.

Hello everyone! First of all, I would like to wish a happy new year for everybody.
And now my thoughts about hungaryan units. The infanty could wear the standard "war end" uniform, with the german helmet with the lamp, and german weapons. ( +big mustaches ;D) For some elit troops there should be Szent Laszló (Saint Laszló) paratroopers. They wear the standard infantry uniform, with a jump jackets similar to the germas (only the color is a hungarian pattern), and they would wear the german jet-pack. Their weapon should be the hungarian király (king) machinegun, and maybe this cuold be used by standard troops, or NCOs too. My other idea is a two man experimental weapon squad. Hungary didn't had much rescorces, so we couldn't put these special equipment into standarized production. So they sould use these squads just to use this stuff, but I don't have any thoughts on any weapons or technologies, so I leave this to you. ( You can think of the most sick, badass weapons you can) And the last thing is an occult idea. A shaman like unit, in hungarian it's called a táltos (maybe it should be pronounced taaltosh, but I'm not sure). Story is, the hungarian 2. army is fighting in the south-russian steppe region (like in original history), and since our people travelled across, and lived on this land for centuris before we settled, our ancestors spirits and old religion should return. This is whay more and more people with the táltos signs (plus teeth or plus fingers) appear, and studie their pagan arts for the army. Thes should look like standard infantry man, but with small totems, feathers, bons, etc., and with old nomad stile tails of hair. I don't have any ideas for how should be these used, but I will think up something. I will get some pictures of hungarians and their uniforms for next time.

If Hungary would be included in the game I would wish to see them with a big role in their Air Force. In WW2 there was an enormous number of hungarian Pilots fighting for the Luftwaffe until the really end of war. Ok, it´s really difficult to include air force into the game but I think it would be a great rule if there would be a Tech Team which can call for Air Strikes (you need a good sounding, hungarian word for that^^) which could be handled as a lingle but strong attack on a target which has to be focussed by the Team. The longer they focus on it (in turns) the easier it is to hit it. That could be a great way for an infantry troop to destroy tanks and other hard stuff.

Wow, it was a long time since I wrote to this topic. So heres a little threadomancy. I have a lot of new ideas for Hungary, that could hopefully help to include them in one of the later expansions. So first the alternative history: Hungary, the unwilling satellite, led by regent Miklós Horthy, who since the start of the war, was trying avoid German subservience. Hitler, early in the war, recognized the greatness of Hungariann scientists, he demanded to hand them over, to serve his cause. Horthy tried to resist, but he could not carry on the swing-politics he was doing any more, he had to concede. The regent managed to make a deal, the best scientist go to work for Germany, but the rest could stay home, and work in laboratories supervised by Germans (with bigger-lesser motivation). But Hitler cold not be pleased that easily… He commanded to dispatch an army, to help on the eastern front, against the Soviet Union. Horthy didn’t wanted Hungary to join the war against theRussianss, but in 1941 everything changed, when the soviets (or camouflaged Germans, to drag Hungary into the war) bombed Kassa (today its Košice, Slovakia), theHungariann nation had to declare war. In 1941-42 hungarian troops moved forward in the south, on the Steppe. At this time, when the army was moving into the hart of the plains, some inviduals started to show strange signs, táltos (Hungarian shaman) signs. The soldiers realized that they are traveling on the road they ancestors traveled a millennium ago, they felt the ancient spirits, old traditions and the old pagan religion started to appear. It was in 1942, on the land we know as Ukraine, that a private called Kovács and his platoon, faced stout resistance, witch was led by a mysterious officer, with powers never sawn before. Just when things started to end up disastrous for the hungarians, private Kovács felt some unfamiliar rage building inside, and jumped out of cover. A little orb of light appeared next to the soldiers head. Kovács charged the soviet lines, and the small orb absorbed all the bullets heading for him. He was shooting bullet after bullet at the strange officer, but all of them were deflected by some extraordinary power. The brave soldier reached the communist scum unharmed and feeling never felt power. Kovács charged the psi-officer in hand to hand combat, and beat his head into pulp with his rifles butt. The Russian conscripts panicked as they saw their feared leader fall so easily, and started to flee. The MKH (Magyar Királyi Honvédség – Hungarian Royal Army) noticed this case, and hidden from the germans all seeing eye, established the special psi-hunter “X group” secretly under the Hungarian Military Intelligence. The agents operated alone or dispatched to fighting units. In the eyes of the germans these where hunting for partisans and spies. After accomplishing their objective, the hungarian troops where called home, but as the eastern war gone on Hitler needed more and more soldiers. Horthy sent the 2. Hungarian Army, under the guidance of Gusztáv Jány. (this should be the main, if not the only, Hungarian fighting unit in the game). Thanks to the new táltos units troops could successfully fight against the russian psis, but the weapons and equipment of the main troops where out of date. In the winter of 1942 the army dug himself in on the line of the Don River. The winter that year was very harsh, the soldiers didn’t had any appropriate equipment, but the oldest officers of the X group casted a very complex weather changing magic, that relieved these problems on the front. However they couldn’t solve the lack of modern weapons, and the soviet attacks seemed to crush the hungarian lines. On 1943. January 12. the russians main attack was unstoppable, it was threatening with total devastation. In he nick of time, suddenly several soldiers sawed an armored knight with an axe to rave trough the Russian armies, causing havoc, and saving the 2. Hungarian army from disaster. The soldiers where sure they saw Szent László (Saint Ladislaus, king of Hungary in the middle ages, the patron of soldiers, who defends his country and his people in dire times), but nobody knows, was it a ghost, a hallucination, or some sort of German abomination ont hat day. However, this incident proved the lack of proper equipment, and as a consequence the army enlisted the Hungarian scientists and their crazy inventions, left by the Germans. To fill the newly established experimental units, the army, in memory of the happening at the Don River, created the Szent László paratroopers, witch despite their name was an elite infantry unit. The weapons used here were not to trustworthy, but the soldiers got their much needed firepower. Nowadays, in 1946, the 2. hungarian army is still fighting in South-Russia, on the steppe region, but Horthy, and the hungarian government negotiates secretly with the Americans and the Brits about a peace, stopping this crazy butchery called a war once and for all, but this is a very dangerous game, that could easily lead to the destruction of Hungary. I have ideas for some units to, I'll post them as quick as I can translate them.

I think it's some great background as a jumping off point. However, I'm not too sure about using such overt magic. When the Occult book comes out, you'll see that we tried to do everything in a subtle way where it could be explained away as coincidence or luck by those who don't want to believe in magic. No fireballs or the like. That said, what we have planned for an upcoming faction is a good deal more overt, so maybe spectral shields for Hungary could work.
We might go with a post Operation Panzerfaust Hungary, with Otto Skorzeny capturing the Regent's son and forcing him to resign. In his place, Prime Minister Ferenc Szalasi would be installed as leader, with his Arrow Cross Party acting in a capacity similar to the Romaninan Iron Guard. That leaves the potential for a Hungarian Underground that is still loyal to Horthy and now works with the Allies in efforts to undermine Szalasi and his thugs.
One reason to go with Szalasi over Horthy is that under Szalasi, the Hungarians committed immense resources to the war, fighting both the Soviets and the Romanians when Romania joined the Allies. Horthy, as you point out, was far more reserved in his support of the war.

Sorry for not answering very quickly.... but now I wrote down all the things in my head (for the Hungarians)! I see what you want to say about overt magic, and I think the same! As you can see I wasn’t thinking of fireballs and other straight forward stuff, just some powers that can be explained by nonbelievers. And for the post Operation Panzerfaust Hungary, I was thinking of the Horthy era and the swing-politics because thats what most of the Hungarians think of when talking about WWII. And I didn’t know how are things at the currant time-line, I was thinking that Romania is still with the axis, and since the south of the eastern front is successfullyly in the Caucasus, the governmentnt is not so determined about a peace, just carefully negotiating. But these are just my thoughts, to get you guys a jumping off point for doing a Hungarian fraction, which would be so cool!!

A bunch of the stuff in there is real (following your rules in story writing)! And now for some rules that I was thinking of! Army specific rules: Trianon: Hungary still holds a grudge against their neighboring countries, after his excise in 1920 by the Treaty of Trianon. Hungarian detachments can never fight on the same side as Romanian, Slovak or Serbian detachments. (If these ever come to existence… ) Experimental: Units with this rule have to roll a D6 before every activation, on a roll 1 the unit loses one AP, but if its a 6 a unit gains one AP. (On 2-3-4-5 they work normally) The core of the Royal Hungarian Army is made up of Honvéds, they are similar to the American GIs, so they could be the Green selections of the army. The regulars could be the Szent László paratroopers, that served as elite infantry in the war, and as the crew of the Experimental Units in my alternative history. Their equipment is the 43M rifle and the Vécsey hand grenade. The NCOs should be equipped with 43M Király submachine gun. The heavy weapons are the 43M lángszóró (flamethrower) , the 39M 50mm aknavető (mortar), 44M buzogányvető (there isn’t a word for this, but this is an antitank rocket), and for the machine gun, at the end of the war we tried to get the license of the MG42, and it was imported in great numbers, so an imaginary licenses, called M45 golyószóró should be good.

K-tiszt (S-officer): “S” is for Special, K is for Különleges. Traditional Táltoses from the secretive X-group, blessed with extraordinary mental abilities. They job is to go undercover, and hunt down, the evil Táltoses (Russian psies for example). For the Germans and other allies, they are agents of the Hungarian Military Intelligence, chasing spies and secret agents. Not even the Hungarian soldiers know about their real task, only the highest ranking inviduals know the truth about them. The average táltos can use basic tricks to help him in battle, but the advanced ones can travel their souls to an other dimension, code named “Tündérország”. From here, they sometimes bring creatures to our world (fairies, táltos horses). The S-officers follow the traditions of their ancestors, and this is seen on their appearance. They wear the average uniform of the army, but with heavily decorated traditional pouches, belts, feathers, and talismans. Their hair is long, with plaits and braids. The táltoses are armed with pistols, but their main weapon and symbol of status is the fokos (a Hungarian pick-axe). For rules, I was thinking about Hunter (psi and/or occult), but that maybe too much with the other abilities. Special abilities (like psi powers or magic): - Lidércfény (wraith light): A small orb of light levitating around the S-officer, that heals its master or deflects the attacks against him. Gains Impervious - Táltosló ( táltos horse): A very intelligent horse, that can talk and fly, and has the features of a human. I don’t know this one, maybe could be a flying mount. - Ősi énekek (songs of the ancestors): The táltos tells about the glorious victories of the past, that only he remembers. As an effect, the surrounding soldiers fight with great passion. Can transfer AP to a friendly unit or invidual that is in 6”. Great Inventor:Scientist volunteering or pressed into the the Hungarian Army, together with their extraordinary inventions. They are sent to special Experimental Units, where they can test, upgrade and repair their always malfunctioning weapons. These contraptions are marked by the Germans as useless in modern warfare, but for Hungary it’s perfect to aid its lack of heavy firepower. The inventors run around the battlefield in long white gowns. Some are brilliant mastermind, some are innovative officers, but some of them are simply madmen! The Inventor removes the Experimental special rule if he is in base to base contact with an Experimental unit. Most of the Inventors go to the front with their personal equipment, not mainly to fight, but for they on safety. You can equip your Inventor with one if these crazy inventions: - Experimental handgun: Not a concrete type, but all of them look ornate and fancy. They don’t have a great distance or power, but they shoot a lot of bullets to fight against multiple targets. I was thinking R: 12” S: 2+D6 RoF: 3:1, Move&Fire - Mutant animals: Exotic animals, that the Inventor used for his experiments, and now work as his personal bodyguards. The most common are dog size elephants or rhinos, and enormous mantises or ants, but komondor automatons are seen too. I don’t know about this one but this would be so cool, pulpy, steampunky that I love it! Obviously the profile of some kind of dog unit, but with a +1 to one of his characteristics. - Clockwork assistant: (my personal favorite!) The Inventors mainly are loners, usually the only companions they have are they assistants, but sometimes not even these are human. They look astonishingly humanoid on the outside, but on the inside, they are small cogs are giving life to the creature. The standardized production is not possible, the Inventors build these complex machines for years, and can’t be created by some ordinary factory worker. Their duty is to help their masters in his work, but they would risk they “life” to save their creator. He is a unit with the Inventor, and you can deal the hits on the Clockwork assistant, which could have a higher than average armor or wounds (or both).

And now for some experimental units (I was thinking steampunky looks here): Experimental Support Weapons:Exotic weapons made by Hungarian inventors, and manned by two paratroopers: - Teleportation gun: A very extraordinary weapon, mainly used in a sniper role. The gun fires a thin black beam, that when hitting anything, makes large parts (for example a head or a limb...) vanish into thin air. It gets its energy and ability to transport things into another dimension, from the bottled up brain of a dead táltos. (A brain in a jar is pretty pulpy, I suppose! ) Since I didn’t put a sniper into the list (I don’t know anything about Hungarian snipers in WW2), I was thinking, this could work as a hard(er)-hitting sniper gun. - Soundthrower: A very interesting weapon, that shoots sonic waves (imagine concentrical circles… that’s pulp:D), and no cover is effective against it. As for the rules I was thinking a stronger flamethrower, just to keep it simple. - Pigeonbomb automatons: This is grenade with metal wings, controlled by a simple programmed flight route. (think of the flapping planes in Sky captain, only smaller and more explosive ) Works as a grenade or mortar but more accurate. Rerollable scatter or something like that. - Lidérc rocket launcher: Originally an air-to-air missile (one of the firsts), but after its success the army started experimenting with it as a heavy antitank-rocket. (This is an almost true story) A limited number of rockets (2-4), with a very high strength value. Armored Storm-troops:In these new types of wars, the rate of casualties was very high, and all nations tried to lower this rate. Some by mare humanity, some to have more soldiers to fight. The Hungarian Army tried to make a power-armor, similar to the US Buffalo, only lighter to better fit with the Hungarian traditions. Akin to the light Hungarian hussar armor, it only defended from the front and the side, and thanks to this, the wearer could keep his agility and mobility more than the Buffalo. The armors looks reflects the hussar armor, on their helmets all of them wear eagle feathers shoving their elite status. As their role is to lead the spearhead of an attack, they are equipped with 43M Király submachine gun. Automated Hussars: (an other favorite:D) The wars of the XX century, made cavalry nearly useless, but in Hungary it had great traditions, that could not fade away that easily. The mount is an amazing mix of technology and mysticism. It’s a perfect mechanical copy of a horse, that is animated by the enclosed spirit of an animal. The technology can’t copy the complex movement of a living being, but the táltoses can summon the spirit of a horse, and can ask it to use the outstanding machine. With this invention, the new armored cavalry was born, that did not falter even in the greatest hail of gunfire. At first, the hussars could not trust their new mounts, but seeing their lifelikeness, they quickly took up with the idea. Their weapons are short carbines (or a pair of pistols), and the traditional Hungarian saber.
