Now it could easily be re-named Iron Man Pulp, but I did pick this up yesterday, and I actually did enjoy it. Although I do hate Big 2 superheroes, they've taken a whole different approach with this one. Tony Stark is an adventuring billionaire in search of the Jade Mask of the Mayan Underworld, with faithful and not-quite-as-faithful companions James Rhoades and the aptly-named Gia Nefaria. Sure they find the mask, but they also find betrayal, explosions, giant reptiles, and Nazis. For fans of exploding Nazis and old-school pulp action. If they keep this tone going, I can highly recommend this series.

Just as long as it's better than that Spider-Man noir junk.

Marvel just put out another WWII era comic, the decent-so-far 4 issue mini series "Captain America and Black Panther; Flags of Our Fathers" featuring, so far, Cap, Black Panther, Sgt Fury and the Howlers, Red Skull, and Baron Strucker. Like I said, first issue is decent.

Don't want to sound like a broken record here, but there's also "The Twelve" by Marvel about twelve obscure Timely Comics heroes who get cryogenically frozen while battling the Nazis and wake up in modern times. The first issue is all WWII-era, and frankly, pretty badass. Also, there's IDW's "The Pilgrim" which opens with an SS cult trying to harness the Spear of Destiny and the occult secret agencies still dealing with that foolishness today.

My fear about 'The Twelve' is that JMS starts great stories, but he rarely finishes them. Nonetheless, I will give it a go whenit hits graphic novel.

Picked up Iron Man Noir #1 yesterday while I was at the shop for Free Comic Book Day (one of my favorite holidays.) And yes, it's pulpy goodness. Here's the two figs I will need to eventually make mods of:

Yes. I subscribed to Iron Man Noir through HeavyInk. I've also been looking at all of the cool pulpy western and horror books that have been coming out. Lots of good stuff these days in terms of writing and art.

The Justice Society of America is currently in a story arc called "Fatherland", featuring re-activated one-shot villains from the 40's.

I just picked up issue 2 of Captain America: Flags of Our Fathers and read it over lunch today.
It now also introduces two more old characters, Master Man and Warrior Woman. Also there's Tiger Man, whom I've never heard of before and he appears to have both arms amputated. There's also mention of Namor in it. I guess I'll have to look them up in the Marvelpedia.
I'd still like to see more of The Ultimates version of Captain America in WWII, rather than in just a few flashback moments. The opening scene in Ultimates #1 was just awesome.

I just picked up yesterday Project Marvels. I haven't read it yet. It's a one-shot stand alone story that takes place in early WWII featuring the original Invaders. Seems like the story involves Captain America and Prince Namor uncovering an Atlantean plot enter the war on the side of the Nazis. Also looks like a B-Plot where The Human Torch and Toro attempt to thwart the attack on Pearl Harbor.
