So at Darkson we are feverishly working to fix a problem with the AE-Bounty book. Seems one of the main fonts that was used in the AE-Bounty book was not allowed to be used by the printer. So we have been going through the entire book and replacing all of that font with a font that is allowed by the printer.
Needless to say this has been the cause of the delay.
We want to make sure to keep you in the loop so as soon as we know that everything has been approved we will post it here.
Sorry for the delay.
Robert and the Darkson Team.

If only you could keep the printing in house, or find out about the problems at an earlier stage...

They couldn't print a font? What are they doing, using a Gutenberg printing press?

Lowest bidder. Why does this sound so familiar to work. Anyways, it's not like I don't have any games to play with or figures to paint over the next few months. ;D

They couldn't print a font? What are they doing, using a Gutenberg printing press? Apparently the font was proprietary. They were not allowed to print it. We didn't know until it was already in the print queue. We have taken an action to do a lessons learned review from this experience so that it does not happen again.

We are also using the same printer that did the Occult Expansion so the binding will not have any issues.

Apparently the font was proprietary. Which means youve been given the task of creating a proprietary Darkson Designs font for next book, right?

Negative! Why waste money on a font instead of cool art and minis?
My job is to grease the skids and minimize delays in releases. I don't really have a job title around here, and that's fine with me.
I'm just a monkey wrench. Stick me where you're got something stuck and apply leverage. I'll get the job done.

Did you buy the font, or was it something that was a downloaded. If you payed for the font, it does not matter if it is proprietary, the font has been licensed out and can be used by the purchasers. Now what most likely has happened is the printers did not have a licensed copy of the font so they are not allowed to print it without owning that particular font and they are unwilling to purchase the font. There are ways around that, the main option is to convert the fonts to outlines. This makes it hell to go back and edit any type, but the printers do not have to buy the font.
@silentbob, there are millions of fonts out there and they all costs money. If the printers thinks the only time that they will use a font is with one job/customer then odds are they are not going to purchase that font.

I don't know. Rob and Crystal would know the details of the fonts used in the design and layout of the book.
Whatever they are, the final copy sent to the printers looks great. There are hints of whats to come in the future releases. The graphics look great. It reads easy. I really like the finished product.
Now if work can just get off my back I'll finish up the details of the AE Bounty campaign for GenCon. Which comes with a load of history and background on the Union and the fringe worlds.

Well I've posted my review of AE-Bounty on TMP. After reading through the Space Ship Scenario section I got so geeked I couldn't wait to tell everyone else. This looks to be real fun!
