Well after almost half a years thought and planning, I've started making my sci-fi urban terrain. I've got the boards done. I've painted the boards using artists acrylics with pastels to add tones and then a tipex mouse to mark the centre lines of the roads. I've also started the first building which has been painted and I've started to add glazing made out of acetate (this is rather awkward to do and resulted in the only time I've ever stuck my fingers together after 19 years of regularly using superglue!), but the effect I think will be worth it. The building reminds me of Crackdown!

Thanks, I've never played (or heard of before) Crackdown, but the building is based on one local to where I live. I want them to all have a modern clean lines type look. Duncan

Thanks! Yesterday I managed to get a the final touches to the next building done whilst watching Ghost in the Shell. It's a fairly simple box, so was pretty quick to build. The front will be 'glassed' with acetate once it has been painted. This led to some construction issues as the 'glass' couldn't be broken half over, so the front and sides are one piece whilst the back slides out with the first floor and the third floor is free standing - if that makes any sense at all? (hopefully the pictures will help explain it) Roof off: Second floor off: First floor off: It just needs painting now. I've also finishing the first buildings glazing, it just needs texturing internally and then it's done. Duncan

Excellent terrain. Which one houses Mr. Itisky's office?

Excellent terrain. Which one houses Mr. Itisky's office? Now that is a very good question and one that remains to be answered, however there are rumours that the bank contains details of some of his ilicit transaction and may have details of his whereabouts and real identity. Duncan

We nearly caught up with him a week ago from the Vovian Verge. Looked like a Cerebrae to me... ( Duros Scoundrel figure from the Star Wars minis line). There were three mutant Arges guarding him though, so the bounty hunter team sent in didn't really stand a chance. Truth be told, might not have been him at all...

Yes, he might not even exist - 'The biggest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist'. There seems to be some speculation that he is a myth character that various gangsters use to hide behind. I sense more investigation is needed! Duncan

Well I've sort of finished the second building now, it just needs a little touching up where black paint has got on to the white. Plus whilst painting it I've learnt a few things: yes foamboard warps (as mentioned earlier); it's a good idea to paint the insides of buildings with stairs and internal supports before putting them together otherwise you end up with the afore mentioned black paint on your nice white walls as you hand is doing contortionist impressions! But without further ado the next building: (sorry for the bad photos btw) From the front: Roof off, second floor: First floor: Ground floor: Hope you like it, Duncan

Very cool. Sounds like you have some good fluff behind your buildings. Always a plus.

Yes, I've always wanted some decent terrain and after building my first board last year I've got a taste for it - it's almost as satisfying as painting minis! The concept was a sci-fi city that looks both modern and a little rough around the edges to give a little 'age', I didn't want anything gothic or that looked like it had been bombed silly the last 3000years every thursday evening at 7pm. I hoping to complete it for november when I'll be taking it to a convention for alternative games (ie no evil empire or FoW) and using it to show AE Bounty off with together with 'Phoenikuz'. This also reminds me I've almost my finished my first Darkson mini, so when I've got the base done, I'll put some pictures of that up too. Duncan

This is brilliant man! What did you make the modular bits from? The sidewalks in particular are very cool...

Looks fantastic. I especially like the neat little wood flooring
As someone else said, I especially like the pavements (sidewalks is silly talk! ;D). How did you construct those and get them looking so good?
