Follow up to the disgraceful defeat at the hands of Grievous. We had a follow up battle yesterday, no pictures this time alas.
It was a rescue mission. Break out Obi Wan from the interrogation block in which he was imprisoned. My son replaced Grievous with a Sith loaded up with Mentalist and Master Mentalist powers, and lost Grievous' guards instead having a heavy with a grenade launcher.
I had a Jedi leading the force, loaded up for melee, with the dead wookies replaced by another shooty unit.
Isaac set his heavy on top of the bunker block and the rest of his force behind buildings so not much to see on the first turn. My Jedi leapt across several fences (flight pack) and was lined up ready to bound atop the bunker next turn. Shooting was poorly aimed from both sides except for a lucky grenade which landed atop Commander Codys helmet and sent the veteran trooper spinning into a tangled heap (Str 12 hit insta gibbed the poor chap!).
My Drive started a long slide towards zero next turn as things went from bad to worse. A great start as the Jedi lopped off the head of the grenade launcher heavy. As she stoood atop the bunker enjoying her triumph, the Sith backed away into line of sight, blasted her with consecutive Inspire Terrors, before hitting her with a Mind Control. Her last thoughts were 'Wheee, I can fly!' as she plummeted headfirst from the bunker onto the spikes and barbed wire below. Drive scores across my entire force were now critical, and after another turn of blaster shots pinging off walls and crates the Sith strode forward flinging Inspire Terror around cackling all the time. Actually it was my son doing the cackling. He was certainly enjoying himself by now as what was left of my crew fled the table .
The Propoganda Department of the Republican Media Wing will be busy spinning yet another thrashing by the Seperatists into a 'tactical withdrawl'.
Observations from the game.
It can be over very fast. We went from even forces with a few wounds taken on both crews to almost my entire force gone in a single turn of shooting/psi powers.
Drive is crucial. I am tempted to go towards Bounty crews just for the increase in moral.
Never assume you are invincible. My Jedi was a combat monster but she fell in a single turn, losing only 2 of her 4 wounds but dying still due to low drive and mentalist powers.
Master Mentalist powers are amazing!
Beating a parent is the best Christmas gift a child can get ;D
