...from my mounted detachment thread. While some of them have been answered, namely 1, 2 & 3, these are the outstanding ones.
4) What advantages are there to having a lance? 5) Are there any weapons a mounted infantry force can bring to destroy (rather than disable) tanks? (Even rifle/anti-tank grenades aren't an option, since the Arab Legion Cavalry aren't equipped with grenades...) 6) Further to that, are the anti-tank changes to a rifle grenadier's weapons via the Anti-Tank special order just to their regular weapon (like an upgrade) or do they have to find another armour piercing weapon? For instance, a British army unit has one rifle grenadier. Does his Rifle No.4 MkII become armour-piercing, or does he get a Blacker Bombard, PIAT or something? 7) Does the Naib count as infantry still, once he's mounted on a horse?

8) Looking at detachments in the core rule book that can take vehicles, if a British force takes a Section Q Operative, can the upgrades from the Operative apply to the vehicle they choose, for instance, a jeep with the Scout role or an M2 Halftrack? 9) Whilst not specifically a Basra question, can units start the game as passengers in vehicles? If so, does it count as one unit deployed, or multiple? How does it interact with scenarios like Scattered?

Any word on these questions? I noticed that some of the other threads with these kinds of questions are also still open... like muddypaw's lance question.

To tack on a couple of Basra questions here:
The Jam-Prone special ability states that "These weapons have a woeful tendency to jam when being fired in full automatic. If a model fires the weapon at a greater Rate of Fire than 1:1, he must test the next time he wants to use an AP to fire the weapon. On a d6 roll of ‘1’, the weapon has jammed and the AP is spent clearing it."
Two weapons with this special ability, the PzB 39 and the Leichtgeshuetz 40, have a RoF of 1:2. As these weapons cannot fire at a greater RoF than 1:1, how can they jam?

And, to tack on an additional question to gnomes' one... is it possible to choose to fire only a single shot from a weapon with an ROF of 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1, in order to avoid the Jam Prone trait? (This is assuming that more weapons will be forthcoming with the trait...

While we're at it:
The Anti-Tank Weapons special order says that "any support selection may take a heavy weapon with the armor-piercing trait..." and "In addition, any rifle grenadier or sniper may exchange their normal rifle for an armor piercing rifle." Does this mean that only one of each (support and rifle grenadiers/snipers) can select an Armour-Piercing weapon, or that each such selection in your detachment can select one? (I.e. I have two support selections, they each get an Armour-Piercing weapon).

I'm woring on Arab Legion and KODAT stuff and what are the stats for a Lance?
Also I noticed the Arab Legion Naib doesn't have Command, which seems unusual for a Sergeant unit.

The lance question is #4, above, and the Naib has Command, according to another thread about Basra stuff.

Bumpity Bump Bump 4) What advantages are there to having a lance? Additional bonus to strength on the charge when the model is mounted. +2 S, +1 CC when charging, in addition to mounted and normal charging bonuses. 5) Are there any weapons a mounted infantry force can bring to destroy (rather than disable) tanks? (Even rifle/anti-tank grenades aren't an option, since the Arab Legion Cavalry aren't equipped with grenades...) Not at this point in time. But soon! With the Mongolians. 6) Further to that, are the anti-tank changes to a rifle grenadier's weapons via the Anti-Tank special order just to their regular weapon (like an upgrade) or do they have to find another armour piercing weapon? For instance, a British army unit has one rifle grenadier. Does his Rifle No.4 MkII become armour-piercing, or does he get a Blacker Bombard, PIAT or something? The British Rifle Grenadier's rifle would gain the armor piercing trait, or, the unit could switch their rifle for one of the options on Page 60. 7) Does the Naib count as infantry still, once he's mounted on a horse? No. Being mounted changes the model's unit type, just as with the Mounted Hero in the Occult expansion. 8) Looking at detachments in the core rule book that can take vehicles, if a British force takes a Section Q Operative, can the upgrades from the Operative apply to the vehicle they choose, for instance, a jeep with the Scout role or an M2 Halftrack? 9A) Whilst not specifically a Basra question, can units start the game as passengers in vehicles? Yes. 9B) If so, does it count as one unit deployed, or multiple? The vehicle is deployed first, and then on the next opportunity, the model is deployed into the vehicle. So the vehicle counts as one model for deployment, but multiple models may be deployed into it. 9C) How does it interact with scenarios like Scattered? In the example of scattered, the attacker gets to determine where the model is deployed. Unless the attacker chooses to deploy the model into the vehicle, it will not be in the vehicle. Otherwise, there is no change to how the model is treated. It is separate from the vehicle and may leave the vehicle if scenario rules require it to leave the vehicle. 10) Does the Naib have Command? Yes. 11) Am I right in thinking then that if i have two units, an officer and a jeep, in Escalating Engagement, I can either deploy the officer, then have the jeep enter play later, or can place the jeep *and* the officer, since the officer is with the jeep? If the officer is deployed in the jeep, then sure. But otherwise, the officer and the jeep count as two separate deployments. 12) Looking at detachments in the core rule book that can take vehicles, if a British force takes a Section Q Operative, can the upgrades from the Operative apply to the vehicle they choose, for instance, a jeep with the Scout role or an M2 Halftrack? Yes. Whew! Let us know if there's anything still hanging out there for Basra questions. Cheers, Chris

13) Does placing the jeep and officer in Escalating Engagement extend to placing a Motorised Infantry detachment's truck and its troops at once?
Other than that, I'm looking forward to the Mongolians now! Thanks Chris (and Rob, Clint, etc)

As mentioned in a couple of posts above, I'm interested in knowing how Jam-Prone (which only takes affect when a weapon is fired at a greater RoF than 1:1) works for weapons with a RoF 1:2 (and thus will never be jammed), and want to clarify that Anti-Tank Weapons special order modifies any and all support choices in a detachment (not just one).
Thanks!

OK. Let me post these to the other guys. We will get back to you soon. I promise.
All the best,

[/mock hurt tone] ;D ;D OK. Let me post these to the other guys. We will get back to you soon. I promise. All the best, Chris Chris, we do appreciate the work you guys are doing, but it's just helpful if we fully understand the rules---and you guys are the source! As a note (although again it would mean more work on you), it would be helpful if the answers to these questions were captured in the thus-far unpopulated 'Errata' section of the forums. I realize some have made them into issues of OtW, but if the answers can be collected in one place and organized by topic, it will probably save some effort going forward (repeated answering of the same questions).
