Skin can be a very tricky thing to paint and finding a good resource on how to do a variety of skin tones can be even tricker. Here is a link that will make life a bit easer using Vallejo. ;D www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/310Cheers, Robert

I wonder - what's with the resurgence of linking to that article? The article itself has been around for ages, and within a day it's been linked here and on the Infinity site.

Italian WWII 25/28mm European/Russia uniforms
I've not been using inks believe it or not. The uniforms were first painted the Bronze Green 897 then I do two highlights mixing in the Green Grey 971 with the Bronze Green. Well I guess I did use a black/brown ink over belts and pouches that used the Green Grey 971 as the base color but I plan on finding something I can use instead of inks.
Italian Uniform colors using Vallejo:

Dominic's Americans: Thanks for the comments guys! I enjoyed painting these figures up and as they were so nicely sculpted, I just had to paint in all the details. (I also had a copy of the promo pic of the mohawk guy propped up on my table, and I figured I had to match that standard of painting. Whoever did that promo paint job did a damn good job!) I figured these guys would be wearing the M1943 uniform, so I started out with a base coat of Vallejo US Dark Green. (Robert - do you know what colour was used for the uniform on the promo guys?) Having served in the Army, I know from experience that some guys just prefer wearing their old uniforms cos they'd be much more comfortable in battle. So just for some variation, I had 2 of them wearing parts of their old M1942 uniform (Vallejo US Tan Earth). At first I couldn't figure out what the flak jacket was. After looking up some historical references, I learnt that the Airborne at D-Day jumped with life preservers on. So being a historicals freak, I painted the flak jackets as life preservers (Vallejo Brown Ochre). Finally, the webbing and packs are Vallejo Khaki Grey. I use Khaki Grey for US webbing and Khaki for British webbing. Don't know if it is right, but I like the effect both ways. For highlighting all the colours, I just added white to the base colour. The figs here have 3-4 highlights for each colour. Oh yes, I just couldn't resist painting Sgt stripes on the sarge's helmet. When I saw him, I said - this guy's "Sgt Rock"! Hope this helps!
