I've read the other threads and haven't quite figured out what this is.
Is this a more generic scifi game using the AE-WW2 rules? Will it have force building rules, or set army lists?
Is this the same style as AE-WW2? The word bounty makes it sound like it might be a bit more like Necromunda or those kind of RPG-like skirmish games with scifi explorer bands going around collecting bounties and such.
I see those two models posted, and while I like the silhouette and style, I don't like the level of detail on them.

From what we know so far, Bounty is a sci-fi skirmish game with force building rules similar to AE-WW2 (no points, different detatchment types, etc). As for how Bounty relates to the game, I don't know we know that, yet. Maybe it is set on a planet called Bounty?
There is also a third model, a human, which has been previewed. It should be at the start of the main announcement thread in this section.

Yeah, not a fan of the sculpts for Bounty that I'm seeing. Everything seems too rounded. There is no variation between rounded edges and hard edges in most of the models. Even the limbs look a bit like sausages. Not looking for "edgy" miniatures, rather the design aesthetic of contrasting hard and soft edges. The silhouettes on them look great, but those little details really determine whether I buy a miniature. Not to mention it can help with painting.
Ah well, I think I'll use it as a way to get 40k players used to the rules via proxies, then transition them to AE-WW2.

Ah well, I think I'll use it as a way to get 40k players used to the rules via proxies, then transition them to AE-WW2. Our devious plan has been discovered! AE-Bounty is a skirmish-scale sci-fi game in the vein of Necromunda with bands of bounty hunters, pirates and mercenaries fighting over the scraps of a galaxy in ruins. It is definitely a more generic sci-fi game, meant to be pretty open-ended and more 'fluff light' but still with plenty of its own character. Bounty will use the same 'points free' army building mechanic that AE-WWII uses with a bit more customization involved and on a slightly smaller scale. We'll be using the same core mechanic that we do in AE-WWII, with obvious changes to army lists, equipment, scenarios and objectives. There are plenty more sculpts on the way, so don't dismiss the entire line just yet. And while folks might not like what we've got, the rules are going to be flexible to allow players to create their own races.

Does this flexibility also encompass technology? For example if I were to go nuts and buy a load of Quar from Zombiesmith, would these rules be compatible with the tech level on the models (i.e. solid slug weapons)?

They kind of remind me of some of the goofy aliens from the Star Wars movies…. That still works as a backdrop for great Sci-fi….
That is kind of the feel we are going for. There are around 12 different races and loads of different weapons and gear options to choose from in the rules so no two players will run into the same crew.
These two were painted by me to be used for playtesting. I have several Star Wars books sitting on my painting desk and was itching to use them to add some color to these miniatures. Not all wars in space need to be in the Grim Darkness of a war torn future. I had fun painting these and I plan on painting to other 30+ models in vibrant colors.
Will the production of this game interfere with the AE-WWII game?
No. The sculpts for Bounty are already done and cast. We are just waiting to do the official release. You will be able to play AE-Bounty at Gen Con as we will be running demos at our booth the entire show.

One of the added levels of customization will be the ability to pick and choose weapons and equipment.

Will the minis be customizable so as to account for these weapons choices?

Well, either way this sounds great. Really fills a gap currently unfilled in the market right now.
Not to mention your subtle plan to convert players from that other scifi wargame will definitely help me find more players in general.

Having played both games once only my feel was that the two we're well formed versions of each other. Clearly an AE-WWII player would readily be able to play Bounty and vice-versa. I think the real draw to Bounty is the mix 'n' match style of your units that AE-WWII simply couldn't allow for.
