Two quick questions that have to do with miniatures, as I haven't received the rules yet, but have started to put together stuff to play with when I get the books:
1. Are there specifik rules regarding base size for the individual types of models or does it not matter? Important for when I want to use a bigger/smaller model for something.
2. Weapons for characters/heroes/whatchamacallit, are they chosen as part of some basic profile, a part of the 'hero types' I have read about or a bit of both? I would hate to make a mini just to find in the rules that I can't equip it like I have made it if I want to use it together with the rest of the stuff I want to use. Perhaps I should just wait until I can read it for myself... (but I have no patience and want to build and paint!).

Base sizes - Pretty much everything that is human sized or smaller is using the 30mm lipped base (Warmachine, Dark Age, etc.). The only things that use larger bases are special large 'wierd' units like the Buffalo, Strumaffe, Beast of the Apocalypse, Werewolf, and Golem. These use 40mm lipped bases.
Overall base sizes aren't that big of deal unless you have some swarming close combat models. Best bet is to discuss this with your opponent. We have a few models mounted on 25mm round bases but really doesn't create much of a fuss.
Weapons - AE-WWII is not true WYSIWYG. Some units have a choice of weapons and you must pick them prior to starting the game. Generally if you don't have a model that depict the optional weapon selected, you should point this out to your opponent ahead of time.

Thanks a lot for the answers. I think I'd better restrain myself then and wait until I can read the rules in detail. I always play strictly wysiwyg no matter what and want the models to be correct representations of what I field.

On that note, what kind of base does the Homunculus use?

Originally it was supposed to be 40mm. However I hear that the model will be released on a 30mm base.

Most commanders use the SMG for their faction as a base. So the US uses Thompson's, the Germans use MP40's, etc. The only hero type that changes the weapon that I can think of off the top of my head is the US Rocket hero, which gives you the option of taking a Tesla pistol.
For the Homunculus, I would assume it goes on the medium 40mm base. I'm pretty sure it is bigger than a human but not as big as a Strumaffe. Edit: Oh right, I remember Rob saying that now about the 30mm.

Yeah, the American Airborne Officer and GI Sergeant have a choice between a Carbine and a Thompson SMG. I see no reason to pick the Carbine as the range and damage are the same, just the ROF.
I made a Homonculous of my own using West Wind's Frankenstein Monster model and painting his pants to look like US Army issue. He's big and fits well on a 40mm base, which was what I heard the Homoculous was going to. I hear the official model is a bit smaller and looks better on the 30mm base.

Yes, the Homonuculs is on a 30mm base. At least, that's the size mine came on ;D In the next book, and afterward, the base size of the model will be listed on the quick reference summary table for easy look up. anaxagorax: If you really can't wait, go to wargames vault and pick up the PDF of the Core Rulebook. The Occult will be there soon too, I think.

How long do we have to wait before the new Homunculus mini is out? I was also considering getting the Frankenstein's Monster from Vampire Wars, but now I'm conflicted.

I'll check with the boss and see what the plans are for the homunculus.
