OK, so my copy came in yesterday, and I do like he book, even if I was expecting something bigger. Anyways, I have a few questions about crew building. 1) Under the options, you have the option of removing one unit selection and exchanging it for onr of lower experience. Does this simply let me use that regular slot for a green unit (for example)? 2) Likewise, you have the option of removing one unit selection in exchnge for upgrading the EL of an existing unit. It seems clear, but just to clarify, that means that in a standard crew, I can drop the green unit selection in exchange for increasing my cutters to veterans. Correct? 3) In the same line of thought, the same goes for the Hero option? If I take a sergeant, I can make him a hero at the cost of a unit selection? 4) I may have skimmed past this part, but all the models in the same unit have the same race and equipment, right? 5) Nikkar have the solo trait, so they can only ever be used as individuals (and heros), correct? Sorry if these seem like simple questions to veterans of the AE games, but I'm still wrapping my head around a non-points oriented system (it sounds wrong to call it points-less). I'm sure I'll have more questions as I read more and try to play it. ;D

Yes 2. You would sacrifice a green slot to make a regular slot veteran, which could then be filled by Cutters. Keep in mind the difference between units (cutters, etc.) and unit selections (green, vet slots, etc). 3. You always get at least 1 hero for free, but you could sacrifice a unit for an additional hero. 4. I believe so. 5. Unsure, will let Darkson clarify. I would guess that you can have a unit of them, but Solo units cannot be joined by independents and Solo independents cannot join units.

Thanks for the reply, but to clarify number 2 using the same exmple of cutters in a Merc crew: Cutters are normally a regular choice. They have the option of being upgraded to a veteren choice. Does that mean that I can normally fill any Vertern choice with Veteren cutters, or do I have to trade in a unit selection choice for that option? I think I answered my own question by trying to phrase it through the example, but I just want to be clear (I'll be on point in my area, so I have to have a very clear understanding of the rules to teach other). A note to the Darkson team: Just like a picture is worth a thousand words, an example is worth a thousand explanations. You know, for your next book.

Yes, your example is correct. One place that does have useful examples is Over the Wire 11. It has a discussion of detachment building in AE-WWII which uses the same system as Bounty. It's out of context for sci-fi, but should help clarify your understanding. darksondesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/AEWWII_OTW_111.pdf
