I was curious to know if anyone has come up with anything for including Human Old West types in a game of AE:Bounty? I think it has some potential, but I have too much on my plate already.

What a great idea. I have thought about it for fun, bud didn't come up with any concepts per say.

I was working on some stuff a while back, didn't really get much farther than renaming a bunch of Bounty stuff to fit in the genre. Here's what I had so far if your interested. I believe my original intention for crew (or posse) construction was to pick Lawmen or Outlaws and both could draw from the Muscle group. Attachments:

Interesting stuff. I have a question on your doc.. What template does the shotgun use? I'm assuming it would be the flamethrower template.

My original intention was for a spray template to be used, but I suppose the flamethrower would be just as effective. The only difference being the target model would still receive a cover bonus.

If you've ever played the card game Bang! I'd take some cues from that for equipment and even classes, like Renegade.
Cool conversions there.

My brother and I are going to try out some AE:OW tomorrow. I don't know what he plans on taking, but I wrote up a U.S. Cav list for some Buffalo Soldiers I painted up last year. Looking forward to trying it out.

My Brother (kazakcossack) and I played a little AE- Wild West, using Chernabog's doc.
I played an Outlaw Veteran crew and my brother played the U.S. Cav list he came up with, using a standard crew.
The battle was fairly even and came down to the last turn where the Cavalry took out my outlaw squad and caused my last thug to break, leaving my Gang Leader alone on the battle field. But, my Outlaws caused their fair share of casualties before volunteering to end the battle.
We plan to play again next week. We will take some pictures then.
After this, I plan to write up some old west flavored dirty tricks.

I had an idea throwing around of a sort of post apocalyptic Old West. Not like Deadlands: Hell on Earth. More like what would the Old West look like after a failed War of the Worlds type invasion attempt.
Pretty much an alien invasion occurs on the west coast of North America. The aliens are a dying race and make a last ditch effort to colonize a world that is not entirely hospitable but shows promise. Gold is a key element to their cold fusion technology and it turns out Earth has a lot of it. Getting control of Earth and it's gold resources could revamp their empire. The American west coast is sparsely populated and is rich in gold deposits that can be easily obtainable.
The aliens themselves are not well developed for Earth's environment, gravity is too high and so is the air pressure. They plan on using powered armor suits and later use indegenous slaves and eventually hybrids for their workforce while they build better habitats for their species to grow and expand.
The invasion starts off well, aliens setup beach heads and start assembling their pre-fab power plants, war factories, laboratories, and other infrastructure. They scour the region of the human vermin and head east towards the Rocky Mountains.
The invasion interrupts the American Civil War. Both the USA and CSA realize this new threat, call a cease-fire, and mobilize west to counter this new threat. By the time they reach the Rocky Mountains they encounter a large alien force. They are quickly being defeating until the alien machines start to behave irratically and shut down. As it turns out the aliens encountered smallpox, which quickly jumped species through their hybrid population, and kills off 90% of the true-blood alien population.
Now everything west of the Rockies is a wasteland with scattered alien tech left abandoned. Settlers from both the USA and CSA attempt to occupy the lands, reverse engineer the alien tech and get the gold. These lands are scattered with surviving aliens, and feral hybrids. Facilities full of unknown technologies lay abandoned all over. Some of these contain uncompleted biological experiments let loose within them. Others still have surviving aliens plotting some way to regain control of this world. Some abandoned hybrids with little to no noticeable alien influence mix back into human societies where their alien traits remain latent. Some become cult-like leaders, other are treated as monsters or lab rats. While some others have even become heroes amongst the human population.
Some of the technology has been reverse engineered by human scientists. Most notably the portable cold-fusion generators. These are used to create energy for steam powered devices and opening a whole new expansion in steam powered technology.
Hostilities between the North and South are now flaring as each try to grab territories in the west, while nations from around the world are also sending expeditions into this wasteland in hopes of getting their hands on this new technology.
Overall, it's sort of a Steampunk Necromunda with an Old West feel to it. Players create posses that are made up of humans and even some alien hybrids. Then go out exploring the abandoned towns and alien facilities looking for loot and fighting off rival posses, claim jumpers and alien threats.

I haven't seen Cowboys & Aliens yet. I liked the idea, but heard nothing but bad stuff about it since it hit the theaters.
I was trying to think of a weird west setting without falling back on Deadlands and Ghost Rock and such. Then the idea hit me about a post War of the Worlds type setting, which then merged into a Wild West meets Gamma World type of setting.
Actually I did shoot this idea off to Chris and Rob a few months back, complete with PowerPoint presentation and such. However, I've got too many other projects in the works right now.
Which reminds me, I need minions!

I really don't know why everybody is so down on Cowboys & Aliens. It's a very good movie. I thought it had a good balance of action and story. Plus, as an Old West enthusiast, I can say there were plenty of really cool guns.

I guess, people expect a deep storyline with lots of plot twists and romances... But, this is an action movie where there is no time for all those fancy things. Hard core action from beginning to end is what this movie is about. Toss in some aliens and set it in the wild west and presto, entertainment without burdening the viewer with deep thought.
I also like the movie, it's about action, steam punk(ish), cowboys and aliens... What's not to like?
