Quick Start Rules. Sorry, should have explained! I just thought that Infinity has done pretty well (the Rulebook isnt even out till May!) by using the internet, which might be an idea for this game. The QSR allows people t see the basic game mechanics, and people have loved the Infinity rules so far (2 years of work and it shows). Might be a good idea for AE. And Infinity models are great, better in hand than in picures though, as for price well, for good minis I'll pay that much. In fact your minis look damn near as good (havent ordered anything yet as being over the big pond in the UK I want to get lots at the same time to lessen shipping fees...) and much cheaper so good on you! The QSR have some very good rule mechanics you might want to 'borrow' for AE (every game does to some degree).

Why reinvent the wheel. That has been the motto for the rules. I don't want to over complacate just to be different.

No but their rules are very simple, once you learn the three types of dice rolling (Armour roll, Normal Roll, Combat roll) you have the rules. The game is so quick you can easily play 10 men on either side in half an hour with huge realism. In other words, uncomplicated and realistic. As for QSR being complicated it really isnt. Not such great translation but its quick and fun. Download the QSR and try a game, substitute models (German soldier=PanOceanian Fusileer) and see how it works!

Is this a joke? The Infinity rules are IMNSHO unplayable and the pricing is absolutely obscene, for models that are well-sculpted but based on stupid and unrealistic concepts. I consider Infinity to be worse than even Warhammer 40,000 in every viable way.

I think the figs are good but way over priced and I know nothing about the rules system.

Umm...I'll admit the minis are very highly priced but the rules as unplayable!!!!!!
They are incredibly good (I refer for independant judicary to the last Fictional Reality, number 23). They look ridiculous. I know, when they first came out I thought they were ridiculous but having played about 10-15 games its now my favorite system. They are fun, easy and REALISTIC! Have you played? And have you thought (the system requires lots of tactics) about it? I refer you to the Infinity forum. I know there will be the HMG rant and the ARO rant but the forum will answer (has done in fact) every question.

I plan to look over the rule system and form my own opinions. As I would want people to do the same for AE-WWII.

I'll just say one thing, play the rules rather than read. they look silly on paper (ARO's in particular) but on the board everything works really well. I remember when they came out i was part of a team who were going to convert Infinity to C3 rules but having played the rules i found i preferred them hugely to C3. LibrarianBrent, whats unrealistic to do with them? They are based on anime so slight artisrtic liscence but most of the stuff is very realitic, particually the poses. Please do show me a more realistic set of minis (Warmachine- because we all know seven foot tall, magical robots are realistic, Rezolution perhaps? What....tyey are very realistic).

Infinity is a combination of all the worst trends in science fiction and anime right now- hackers on the battlefield? Scotsmen wielding greatswords and autorifles? Mechs with swords? Warrior monks?

Umm, Hackers make sense- in fact there are military think tanks in various countries considering them. Having them on the board is just fun. Scots with swords is yes mildly silly but actually if they were shorter ore futuristic CC weapons then it would be realistic. Warrior monks...well all Special Forces train in Martial arts, this is just one step furthur. Mechs with swords...umm, one Mech and thats artistic liscence. Name me a 'realistic' major game....Warzone? They have even more Scots. Warmachine? With those shoulder pads and magic robots. 40K? Cos giant green aliens with axes are realistic.
Come on, dont shirk, show me a 'truly realistic' game. Then tell me what games you play and I'll point out the lack of realism (unless they're historical!). No game is really realistic, I mean its wargaming! Seriously, your point has some basis but its sloppy.

We are playing an alternate historical game. I dont mind some craziness in this, but we should stick to this WWII feel while doing it. So Im not too fond if figures with big swords and shiny armour will become somewhat dominant or have nerds with computers run around on the battlefield. (I'd rather keep them off the field but still playable)

No, no...I'm not suggesting this game use Hackers or men with big swords, one of its joys is it is very 'realistic' and 'ww2-ish'. Just saying that Infinity was pretty realistic for a wargame.
