Next weekend we will be starting up the map based campaign to make sure it does not have any bugs.
Matt and I played a game last night. The forces were the Russian Experimental Detachment vs German Experimental Detachment. The Russians can be quite nasty and the Chumans are a pain in the ass. They are fast moving even through difficult terrain.
As we get going on the map based campaign I will see about posting updates on how the games are going. ;D

Oh Im really curious how those map based campaigns will be! We might be stealing your idea for the Anargo Sector Project, but it all depends how the campaign is We've been experimenting with map based campaigns which would include Battlefleet Gothic, Epic 40k and Warhammer 40k which would be interlinking, but our lack of enough wargamers has always stopped us from continuing...so Im curious what you guys will end up doing with this

Campaigns are tricky, map-based ones even more so. I've had fun developing a campaign system that's easy and balanced and I think we've got one that will work well. The campaign system we've got has been tested and seems to work well, we'll just be giving it a shot with a sample map-based campaign that'll be included in the core rulebook. I will, undoubtedly, destroy Robert as I did in the story-based campaign.

We are about half way through the Map base Campaign and the Germans are doing well. They have so far launched five V4 rockets at Russia. ;D We just played a game where it was two German detachments vs one Russian detachment. I think the Russian would have done better if we had not been able to play two "Stragglers" special orders on them. This special order force two Russian troops of German choosing to start the game as reserves and start trying to enter the battle turn two. So far we have had a blast with this style of Campaign and I am sure you will see many more like it in the future. ;D I will leave it to Matt to fill in details.

Well the crew meet up this weekend with out me to play another game in the Map based campaign. From what I was told Germans are kicking ass and taking names. Next weekend I have a fight at the V4 launch site. We shall see how that goes. ;D

Well things went bad for the Germans this round. We lost 2 out of the 3 games we played. Those darn Chumans are sick if you don't keep them under control. The Russians got to the V4 and set charges and blew it up . In the other game I think the scenario helped the Russians win as they played "Welcome to Hell" which is a nasty little scenario where you fight in a city that is being hit with artillery strikes from one side that dose not know their are friendlies in the area. In the only German win of the night we kept the fire up on the Russians. The MG42 was kicking ass and taking names. The Russian Sniper took some heavy punishment and keep on ticking. In the end the Russians ended up running due to the Germans hammering them in the Drive department. Drive is huge in AE-WWII. Just like a real battle if you don't keep the troops motivated and in line you will see your battle plans got to crap. Objectives are very important and in a "Normal" game of AE you will have 3 objectives. Two that the other player will know about (Primary and attrition) and the third objective that only you are privy to. This could be anything from defend a building to assassinate an enemy Hero/ Officer.

Good to hear about the objective system - In many of the games I have played, you always always end up playing the same "Destroy the enemy" scenario over and over again. I think more emphasis on objectives is a good initiative.

I think more emphasis on objectives is a good initiative. I hate this as well and the games I love the most all have this same aspect to them. A solid objective system that acts as a core to games and an be tweeaked and worked on to easily create fun new scenarios. It was what really sold the game for me when I demoed it at Gen Con. Well that and Matt's infectious enthusiasm. Is was the enthusiasm that was infectious right Matt?

Matt has been mapping out our turns on his laptop till I can get some "Mighty Empires" tiles painted up for the next Campaign. I will see if Matt can post one of the turns.
The map should make it into the core rule book. I will know for sure on Monday. ;D
