Thursday’s demo game at Dream Wizards in MD was a blast. It was the first game for Aaron and Paul. Aaron took control of my painted Americans, Paul took my painted Russians, while I used whatever Germans I had available to make it interesting. The scenario involved a Panzer IV at the center of the table as the main objective (most turns in control of the tank granted completion of the primary objective).
We didn’t use any specific detachments, just each had 1 veteran, 2 regular and 2 green selections.
The Americans had:
Veteran Airborne Officer (War Hero)
Regular Buffalo
Regular GIs
Green 30. Cal GIs
Green Robots
Faulty Technology
Secondary Objective: survive to the end of the game/6th turn
Russians:
Veteran Psi-Officer (Natural Leader)
Regular Psi-Commandos
Regular Anti-tank rifle
Green Conscripts
Green Chumans
(I forget Paul’s special order)
Secondary objective: eliminate the airborne officer
Germans:
Veteran German Officer (Lab Rat)
Regular MG-42 Wehrmacht
Regular Wehrmacht
Green Volksturm
Green Emaciated troopers
Surrender!
Secondary Objective: eliminate the psi-officer
The game itself resulted in an American win, as Aaron was able to capture the main objective and his secondary, while both the Russians and Germans were eliminated to a man giving the Americans a vp for attrition. Final score was USA 3, GER 1 (eliminated psi-officer), RUS 0.
Highlights included:
- The buffalo tesla-gunning the conscripts and the German Officer immediately forcing them to surrender
- Good demonstrations of the morale system as both the Russians and Germans suffering chain-routs.
- The German Officer eliminating the psi-officer in hth, achieving my secondary and starting the chain-route mentioned above.
- The effectiveness of the AT-rifle. These things are deadly against infantry and armor.
Overall, it was a good demo as I was able to illustrate pretty much all facets of the rules outside of vehicles. One thing t that was especially helpful was having a quick-reference sheet that I drew up in word handy. It made it very easy to keep the action flowing.
Keep an eye out if you’re in the DC metro area for the next event (I’ll make signs and such and coordinate more with the store to advertise). Any help Darkson would like to provide in the form of cardboard stand-ups or color posters would be awesome
The one photo I got. Americans defending the objective from Russians. :
