Very inventive indeed. I'm sure there could have been some macho sewing themed one liner you could say when the weapon was used. Of course I just realized that I used macho and sewing in the same sentence...
Is it just me, or do the British weird war weapons seem extra weird? Like that explosive wheel thingy that I saw on history channel. Kinda like something you'd go after a cartoon road runner with.

I don't know, everyone was getting a little goofy at the time. Sometimes, you're just up late, and you think to yourself, "wouldn't it be a good idea to strap firebombs on bats, let 'em wreak havoc?" And no one is around to tell you, no, that's a terrible idea.

Yes I have to admit the flaming bat bomb was crazy indeed. I think all countries involved at the time had a coyote with an ACME catalog in weapons design.

The bat thing sounds crazy till you look at a couple things. 1) At the time Japanese buildings were in excess of 75% wood, bamboo and paper. 2) Bats inherently go and hide when disoriented (and what would disorient a bat more than being put to sleep and dropped out of a bomber? Maybe a Gwar concert, maybe...) 3) Japan did not have the infrastructure needed to fight fires on the scale that probably would have resulted - this is the kind of thing that could have made Dresden look like a warm up, and thats saying alot

I remember reading about the CIA coming up with this plot to disrupt the sugar cane crops in Cuba. They had operatives collect stray cats, tie oily rags to their tails, set the rags on fire and let them loose into the fields.
