Now this is just terrifying. Why would anybody even think this was a good idea? I say we are now within ten years of Skynet going online: www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,532492,00.html

Seriously, who could think this is a good thing?

Love it. Give em guns and send em on their way.

Holy crap on a stick ...All that's missing is for it to be able to play the AC/DC song Who Made Who. That thing has all the makings of a freaking scary horror film, war game scenario, or role playing game adventure.

It's all fun until their friend/foe recognition program gets a bug... Just look at how quirky everything else runs on a computer... Oh, and a better soundtrack for these abominations would be 'Machine Men' by Bruce thingyinson: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQmohpgigfc&feature=related

Getting energy from trees sounds great. Wouldn't feeding on corpses be breaking some rule of warfare, or something (like not being allowed to use napalm on humans), however? Then again, if it has a speaker which plays Bender saying "kill all humans" as it feeds I might be able to get behind it

I read about EATR a few months ago, seriously a wonderful idea for unmaned combat, along with a story about how the military is trying to adapt predators to hover as well as carry larger payloads (Hunter Killers anyone)

I still have trouble believing that this is a real thing. I keep expecting to hear the project will star Lance Hendrikson, and be the Sci-fi channel movie this Saturday at 9pm.

Now that I think about it, perhaps the US military should team up with Cyberdyne systems in Japan. They're already working on a powered exoskeleton to help the elderly. A system named HAL.
I love Japan.

Wow, that is pretty cool, in a robot ghoul sorta way. But the robot it's self isn't terrifying enough... Maybe if the Big Dog robot ate dead bodies and mounted a flamethrower, or a gun that shot swarms of wasps. Or possibly if it shot the indigestible parts of corpses, like bones. Hmm, a walking robot that eats corpses and shoots bones... You can have that idea for free, Darkson, you're welcome.
