I've almost finished a Warlord Games 'Cromwell' medium tank and 'Tetrarch' light tank for my Brits, and was wondering if there were plans in the near future for an OTW with a few additional tanks for all factions ? I'm quite happy tweaking rules for them for now, but there's nothing like having official rules, combined with the joy of making "Vroom vroom BANG!" noises as I roll a tank around the battlefield

Working on tank rules now. We are starting from scratch with them so it will take a few weeks but they are getting done.

Good to know. Looking forward to seeing the rules. Hoping the Big Tanks will lure my son from 40k into AEWWII

Can we have an idea about what sort tanks we can expect?

Tracked ones, I'd say. Or ones with weapons mounted on them somehow. Or - wait for it - BOTH!
(Sorry, couldn't resist!)
I'm looking forward to fielding an M3 Stuart with my Aussies. Fun.

I'd expect light tanks as your initiation into the world of armoured cavalry.

I'd expect light tanks as your initiation into the world of armoured cavalry. I'm no treadhead, I confess. I definitely want to see that tanks are balanced in a game of this scale. Haven't had much opportunity to face off against the Tumbleweed. Yet. That being said, I'm hoping to see a variation of the M24. And I haven't seen a WW2 game that can resist a Panzer of some sort.

I'm hoping they stay light. Stewarts, Tretrarchs, M24's and the like. Certainly no Panthers or Tigers. Maybe a rule for bigger tanks only if two tank detachments are taken and they only have the one big tank between them. I honestly like AE WWII as more of a squad-level infantry and light vehicle game myself.

I wouldn't mind 1 heavy tank in a game.
Something like the end of Saving Private Ryan comes to mind with the sticky bombs.
Urban War ran into a similar situation with their CLAUs from Metropolis. The CLAUs (Capital Light Armored Units) were essentially huge mecha or walking tanks. In the large scale game of Metropolis, they fit in well and were balanced against squads of troops. A single activation could consist of 4-20 models firing weapons ranging from assault rifles up to anti-tank rocket launchers. In the smaller skirmish level game of Urban War they were very difficult to take out with normal troops, where there was only 1 model per activation. We tried this out before the official Urban War CLAU Team Actions came out. When they did release CTA, they provided a whole bunch of add-on options for every faction to give them a fighting chance against a CLAU. Also, if you were to field a CLAU, you had to notify your opponent such that he could either field a CLAU of his own or some anti-CLAU upgrades.
With AE-WWII, you could balance that out by if you take say a Heavy Tank selection in your Detachment, you must trade in 1-2 infantry selections for it. Furthermore, your opponent automatically gets an Anti-Tank Grenades or Sticky Bombs Special Order in addition to his regular selection of Special Orders.

You will see 1 light tank for each faction in an OTW than you will start to get hit with other light tanks in the Expansion Books. In the Africa Expansion you might just see Heavy's. This is still very much in the air and it will more than likely be multi detachment games only.

That's cool. We were playing the other day with an armoured car, and against an unprepared opponent, there's very little they can do about it, especially when upgraded to Veteran. (Is that actually allowed? Seems mighty powerful)
