I ran two demos today. The LGS was a bit dead, there was a fairly large local tournament last weekend and so I think most people wanted to take some time off from gaming (gasp!). I did get in two demos with two separate people. I ended up playing on the other side so I was in a delicate position. People generally don't want to be beaten to a pulp as they are learning a new game. In the end the Germans won one and the Americans won one.
The first was a shut out. The OSS Agent was particularly impressive, popping up at the secondary objective and doing his gunslinger thing all over the defending Germans. Also fighting for the Americans with all his might was the Mad Doktor, apparently. He rolled two ones inoculating the Storm Ape first turn, causing it to go berserk. It was ugly.
I played as the Americans the second time and again, did not play as aggressively as I could but it was still much closer. The Germans made good use of cover to move up the field. The Storm ape was forced to be put down after losing all of it's drive the second turn. The Fire Soldiers in particular were the stars this time, killing the OSS Agent and roughing up an Airborne squad, putting them in to position to being forced to surrender to Emaciated Troopers. The Volkssturm heavy weapons team's loaders also contributed some surprisingly accurate fire, taking down two Airborne.
Overall I think everyone enjoyed it and the store is going to order some product for the stands, so mission accomplished. I will run another demo there soon, on a day when it isn't as dead.
Here are some pictures of the second game.
