At last, with a PDF of the Core Rulebook and a motley (quite fitting really!) collection of WWII miniatures I am able to present my first proper detachment list (also partly thanks to moonshroom7 for the Panzerfaust rules!):
Götterdämmerung - Support Detachment * Elite slot exchanged for extra Regular slot Veteran: German Officer (MP40, Hero-Natural Leader) Regular: Wehrmacht Heavy Weapons Team (KAR98k, Panzerschreck) Regular: Wehrmacht (KAR98k, Panzerfaust) Regular: Wehrmacht (KAR98k, Panzerfaust) Regular: Volkssturm Group Leader (MP40) Green: Volkssturm (GeW43s) Green: Volkssturm (GeW43, 2xPanzerfausts)
These guys are intended to represent a 'last stand' in the city of Berlin (should the Allies eventually make it that far!), hence the large amount of 'anti-tank' weaponery.
Bring on the T-34s! ;D

Bold step sacking the Elite slot!
I also prefer the StG44 to the KAR98k, but a.) I don't know what models you have to pick from, and b.) I'm by no means a historical aficionado.
Any thoughts on which Special Order you'd pick?

Probably the Special Order Take Cover as there would be plenty of it available (Berlin was a bombsite in April 1945)! I did think about Artillery Support but that would be pretty rare (though the German, like the Russians, were'nt adverse to shelling their own troops). The lack of the Elite slot is due to most of the High Command being holed up in the Führerbunker or stuck outside Berlin fighting off the advancing Red Army (nothing to do with the fact that I can't find a MP40 armed Commanding Officer in my bitzbox! ).

You can always make the German Officer you have now an Elite, thus giving him another action per turn. You could then make the Wehrmacht HW team Vets. I also suggest the Assassin hero type. Natural Leader is nice for the extra drive, but Officers already come with Command so that is wasted a bit. If you still want extra DR, try the War Hero type as it also improves a number of other stats. All that being said, if you made your detachment that way so that it tells a story, more power to you, but you can do the same with other hero types (a decorated Wehrmacht Officer and the last remnants of his once proud platoon are reinforced by rabble in a last-ditch effort to stop the Allies.)

Make sure your first game is played using the rules for "Welcome to Hell". You will have a blast.

I like that list a lot. It would be great to see it up against some of the Occult forces that would be involved in any final assault on Berlin (Skinwalkers, Buffalo, Chumans, etc).
Special order would definitely have to be 'Take Cover' or 'Scouts.'

I'm going for a more historical force myself but would love to come up against the more 'fantastical' Allied elements. Imagine the fear felt by my lowly Volkssturm squad when faced not just with armed, experienced soilders but also rampaging chumans!
