Hey Tread-Heads,
It's been a long time coming, but tanks will be rolling onto the AE-WWII scene soon! Sound off here with what armor options and vehicles you would like to see in the game. Also, if there are any tactics that you would like to see represented in the game, tell us that too.
Here's some background on what's coming. As a minimum, the Tanks issue of OTW that is scheduled to come out this summer has 6 light tanks in it. Everyone will get something in it. And there are some surprises in the OTW too.
We are going to try and get the Tank rules out early so that players have a lot of time to try them out and prepare for Lightning War at GENCON.
Let us know what you think.
All the best,
The Darkson Designs Crew

I'm no treadhead, and I fear tanks at this scale of game, but I think the Panzer and the Sherman are pretty iconic.

Everyone will get something in it... Even the Aussies? How about a Humber A/C? Or the Stuarts that were used in the North African theatre?

Ah, well, all of the MAIN factions...for now at least. The Germans, the British, the Americans, the Russians.
The Aussies might be making an appearance in the game soon. Stay tuned.
As for fears of tanks in the game, they'll be somewhat balanced with a variety of options for taking them out and some helpful special orders. Just don't bring a gun to a knife fight. If you think you'll be facing armor in a planned scenario, make sure you bring something that can take it out!
Cheers,
Chris

More armoured cars would be great.
I'd love to see a Churchill, but that's a wee bit too tough for infantry to be taking on.

The other thing that I think would be good to see would be an AT variant of the Buffalo. If there's anyone who's going to stand a chance going up against a tank, it would be a man in power-armour.

I would like to see the the T-26, and the Stuart. I'm all for keeping the tanks small.

The tanks are going to stay small and light to fit in with the skirmish scale of the game.
There are few medium sized versions that have been discussed. But we'll see how the first batch of armor is received.
And weird tech tanks are in the background, (see the Lightning Brigade references in the first book) so expect some neat variants to play with. They won't be in the OTW that's coming this summer, but they are coming soon.
Tankettes are a distinct possibility too.

I could see Tankettes becoming a bit more popular, particularly amongst ARPA, as technology for lightweight power plants and armor can be applied to larger tank like vehicles.
Perhaps a new American Tankette, something a bit more conventional than the Tumbleweed, but tougher or faster than a Buffalo.

as I've already build a Telsa Cannon equipped Sherman, so do I!
Right now I'm thinking of making a Sonic Kannone equipped Tiger.
