So I am running a campaign that takes place in Kiev right now. Well, one of the special campaign cards involves a bunker. Looking around, I couldnt really find any 28mm size Russian bunkers. Plenty of German ones and Normandy up the wazoo, but nothing much on the Eastern front. So I decided to make one of my own. First, I did research on what a Soviet/Russian style bunker looked like an how/where they were used. I found quite a few cool websites (the coolest being www.theserpentswall.com/. Check it out, you will not be disappointed. And naturally the Osprey books Soviet Field Fortifications 1941-45 and The Stalin and Molotov Lines helped a whole lot. So after looking through everything, I decided on a M2 boyevoe sooruzheniye (fighting post). Basically a machine gun bunker. Now, since this was meant for tabletop gaming, I had to modify it a bit. Simplified the design here and there, opened up the firing slots a bit so two models could fire out at the same time. I wanted to be able to fit models in it after all. So after a bit of work, here it is: And with the top off: I was thinking about making a mold and casting it up, but that might be more work than it is worth. Maybe if I do another.

WOW. As a Soviet player that is just awesome. How did you make it?

I made it out of 1" purple insulation foam, plasticard, mdf, and QuiKrete Grey Concrete Crack Seal. Was a pretty easy build really. Just cut the foam, glued it together. Shaped it a little with a sanding block and glued it to a mdf base. I then cut some plasticard for the floor. Put on a couple layers of Quikrete and some sand to the base and you are done. I went a little further by adding the lines to simulate where the wood forms were (you see them a lot on these bunkers). That was done with Quikrete and a strait edge of some plasticard. Naturally, you need to paint it too The Quikrete is amazing. It comes in a 1 Qt bottle and is liquid. Just shake it up and spread it on.

Awesome work Rob!
After seeing The Bunker however, I'm afraid to want to occupy it.

Good news for enemies about it is that the back wall is perfect for a grenade bouncing in... beautiful 90 degree angle!
