Howdy all!
I am a brand new player, trying to figure out the gist of a list before I start buying things - including the rules.
So I really have very little idea.
When I get my hands on the two rulebooks then I'll be able to go into detail, mostly with german detachments >B) (Knew I learned that language for a reason) But for now, please bare to read these newby questions and possibly, even answer them.
How would something like this fare? Or is it even legal?
Mechanic -veteran Buffalo - machine gun -elite Buffalo - machine gun -elite Robot trooper -green Robot trooper -green Robot trooper -green Rest on upgrades and fancy stuff
Is that cheesy? Possible?
I like the American Tech stuff

You really need the rules first to understand the detachment system.

I would recommend taking a look at the downloadable Over the Wire issues. There is one that goes into extensive detail on the topic of Detatchments, including all the different types, and suggestions for putting them together.

Is that cheesy? Possible? The theory is possible, sure. (Not sure the unit selections would work out, but people have already directed you to OtW.) Cheesy? Ehn. You'd be putting a lot of eggs in one basket. Those Robots will handle the suppression side of things, but even chucking out as much lead as they will, they won't be hitting many targets. Your biggest weakness, IMHO, is a lack of Command. Once you start taking morale hits, you won't have a good way to recover. And while the Buffalo suits are rock hard, they're not immortal. The easiest way would be giving the Mechanic the "Natural Leader" hero upgrade, but you're already going to have him running back and forth doing his Mechanic things to keep your tech rolling. Spending AP to fight Morale drops is only going to slow him down. Play around with the list a bit, see what you can and can't fit in. Go through a couple games, it'll give you a good sense of what you want to bring to the table.

Another thing is movement. That unit is SLOOOOWWWWW. Also you can't get Buffalos in Elite.
