My name is CmdrKiley and I am weak.
I just stopped by my FLGS today and saw the large cardboard standup featuring a woman with cleaving hanging out over the hatch of her walking tank and well.......sheilds went down and I pulled out the credit card (hope the SupremeCmdrKiley doesn't see this) and came back to my desk with a big ol' box of Dust Tactics.
I'd have to say I've had my doubts about it. I generally do with anything made in China, being prepainted with soft plastic figures and the game looking more like a simple boardgame. I was never thrilled over AT-43 and don't get me started on my attempt to sample the latest iteration of The Mutant Chronicles.
So far after opening the box and sampling the innards, I'd have to say the production quality makes for some high marks. The pre-primed figures are quite good. Very similar to AT-43 in terms of material, sculpt quality and detail. However they are pre-primed (Americans in Green and Germans in Grey, just like the sandbox toys). Details are kept sharp as they are not globbed on with piles of paint. The primed surface looks good enough to accept paint right away.
Anyways, I'll fill you in some more when I get home.

Well I continued on with the review on the MAOW website. We even got in a game the other night too. Besides Chris, with all that OT you accumulated, you deserve to treat yourself!!!!

Money is not the issue here. Although you'd be surprised how little is left after paying for three kids in daycare. This is about wife management. We have a deal that I can't buy stuff for myself from before my birthday until after Christmas. That way my wife and kids can surprise me and I won't ruin it by pre-emptive shopping!
I suppose I will have to live vicariously through your review until then : )
Cheers,
Chris

Yeah my wife and I had an agreement before we bought our house about only having 1 television in the house. Boy did that turn into a mistake. However I found some creative solutions to that.

Played another 2 games last night.
Pretty neat. I like the mechanics for Lasers. Also the flame thrower works pretty well against vehicles (if you roll right). Basically 2 in 3 chance of scorching the paint and a 1 in 3 chance of destroying it in big ball of flames.

Hey, I may end up with Dust Tactics as a Christmas gift this year. How do the models compare with AE:WWII? Are they similar enough in scale that they could be mixed in a force?

I know the Mechs fit I think the figs might be a tad taller but not by much.

I really want to get the promo model 'Loth', to use as a power loader sturmaffe (name escapes me).
However, they are eBay platinum.
