anaxagorax and fattdex, lives ruined by Games Workshop's Read As Written rules policy. Pity the fallen

Well, it is rather hard to guess the designers' intent when the rules are quite clear and the only reason to question them as I did here is because of one or two lines of flufftext and tactics advice, is it not? That's why it's so great being able to ask the people responsible for the rules directly here and I hope that they are happy to get the feedback too, after all it's almost impossible to get everything completely perfect in such a complex entity as a continually evolving ruleset for a miniatures game. There are no better playtesters and proofreaders than the whole base of players and being able and willing to respond to them is the mark of great rules development in my opinion. As for GW, I rose and walked away many years ago. In part because of the irony of the sloppy rules vs. the RAW

GW's rules are often more convoluted than that - let's be honest here We'll change the language to make it more precise, but the interpretation of the OD that I've always based things around was that if you have a Supernatural Being who doesn't require an unlocking unit, then you can take it in the OD. Until now, there just hasn't been any.

That's what I was hoping and wishing for A single simple sentence along the lines of 'these requirements does not apply when putting together an Occult Detachment' or something like that in the Wolf Master rule would close it without opening other future problems regarding new Supernatural or Occult units without the 'unlocking unit'-mechanic that you wish to restrict in some other way regarding the Occult Detachment? Good thing I was optimistic and ordered two packs of heads!

It is a big help, because there will be other uses for the Occult Detachment down the line that would have been quite similar - so it's a good thing to get the wording straight and concise from the get go.

Awesome find on that IW model! Be sure to let us know how he looks next to the DD models. I think you switch out that shotgun for a sub-machine gun and you'll have a perfect pack leader.

I think so! I have some metal stg44's, i'll try and see how an officers cap will fit too ^_^ I am guessing it will be of a smaller stature than the darkson werewolf but some creative basing may help (or perhaps a napoleonic complex werewolf would be good)

We love getting these types of posts and it helps us to make the rules easier to understand and get our intent for them across.
Good job guys and keep the questions coming. This is your game and we want to keep it that way.
Cheers, Robert

Job's a good'un! The style of the mini fits right in with the Darkson were wolf, and he's half way to storm ape size so he looks like the boss. I will just add the iron cross tomorrow because I don't want to literally screw the pooch by mashing the putty chain with my careless fingers. A bit of a snip and a file and the shotgun is replaced with a bolt-action minis stg-44. I just bent its right hand into a pointing pose and good to go.

Ooh, nice. I was thinking about finding some 40+ish mm german officer miniature and give him the largest of the werewolf heads from Maxmini. I can't find any suitable miniature though, so I think I'll have to get me one of those as well. Looking forward to seeing it with paint on, be sure to post pictures
