Hi,
This is Chris, resident monkey wrench on the crew.
Rob, Clint and I were talking the other day and thought it might be a good idea to share our thoughts on the forum about the behind the scenes stuff at Darkson Designs. A formal blog (if there is such a thing) is too much for any of us to maintain at a pace that won't frustrate anyone who is interested. But we thought some posts, mainly about what we're working on, and what goes in to what we do for Darkson, would be fun to read and generate some good discussion on the boards.
So stay tuned! We plan on discussing the concepts we're working on, and what it takes to put out products like books and miniatures in this space.
All the best,
Chris

A project that is in rout to Cipher Studios to be cast up right now is the Hell Host. The sculpt has been finished and sent to go into production. this makes me a very happy camper as I have wanted to paint this miniature since we had the concept are done up. We also have a new painter that has the next 10 Bounty releases in hand and he is painting them up to be used in packaging photos as well as new scenes to be used in OTW. We have much more to come and you will be seeing more here as well as in our Weird War Wednsdays. Cheers, Robert

I think I should chip in and mention the hard work our playtesters have been putting in with the new factions and units that will feature in the first Pacific book - particularly in regards to the Japanese who, as you've seen in OTW, don't play at all like any existing AE-WWII factions. That has been quite a trial for everybody to get the Japanese to have the right feel to them, one that acknowledges both the historical strengths and weaknesses of the IJA and IJN during WWII. As we always keep in mind, the rules should have a capacity to be used as a purely historical battlegame once the weird elements are stripped away. Still, who doesn't secretly want a ninja creeping around with their Giretsu airborne commandos?
My present research reading is a collection of pulp sci-fi entitled Strange Paradise which features a novella titled 'The Lost Warship' and which is distinctly of interest to AE-WWII. Indeed, after reading it, I wonder if somebody based the idea for 'The Final Countdown' on this obscure little story. After that, I'll be tackling 'Chinese Civil War Armies'. There's no such thing as too much research when you boil it down!
