Me and Torben are running a AE bounty demo next weekend and it'd be really nice to have the quick start rules with us, any chance they're likely to be ready for then?

Bob is working on them in his spare time. He will post them as soon as he can.

Hopefully we can get something out to you by then...No promises though. Need to iron out the starter crews for the QS rules.

Let us know your opinions about quick start rules (QSR) in general too.
A lot of different companies have released trial rules and new game rules in different ways this year. We'd like to know what methods you guys prefer.
For example, release as a slightly more detailed QSR with a little bit of background? Just the rules with no background or art? Forget the teaser and release the whole thing in an unabridged format PDF as some companies are doing?
We're really interested to hear what you guys think.
Cheers,
Chris

Good point, Chris. For example, Wyrd is releasing a "core" package with the basic rules in a smaller edition without extra fluff. Not sure on the details, but I read about it on TTGN's site.
What type of things do you, as fans, like or want to see from Darkson in this regard?

The more detail the better, but then again you have to make sure your company can hang together without loosing too much money. I for one have often only got the free rules downloads and often don't bother for the fluff and especially the hobby section (a real waste of space!). Fluff is good, but sometimes it can fill too much without adding enough. Not really sure what I'm saying, but maybe you get the drift. Thinking about it, may the core rules, but leave the crew lists, weapon lists, etc for the book, or maybe just one faction/example. That way people can see if they like it without spending too much, Duncan

I would think leaving a full rulebook as a free download would kill a company such as yours, unless other avenues of income are available to you and unafilliated with these rules available for free. Like Duncan said, the core rules with a nothing more than a "sample list" for referance and nothing more would be less vulnerable to net loss. This would perhaps also be a boon for the established community as a handy booklet for easy referance. Instead of having to look up rules in three or more seperate books all is available in one pdf.

I would prefer to just have a QRS. However, as a "demo-package" then maybe said QRS could include two crews that have all their race and gear selected, with only the choice of weapons being left out. This way, you could have players pick the weapon for their troops, from the weapon reference and thus kill two fly's with one?
