I just got my mitts on the Basra campaign book and will be building a detachment of KODAT as soon as my Arab heads arrive from amazon miniatures. Using WW1 weapons is challenging enough, but it appears they can't use AT weapons. Is this an oversight or are these guys just boned?

Boned. They're using surplus French weapons captured from British stocks in Syria (which in turn were captured by the Brits from Vichy forces). The Germans are more concerned with keeping their own troops supplied, so the KODAT has to make use of what little attention they get. To employ AT weapons, they need to have a weapon team of Wehrmacht troops attached to them.
You should look at KODAT forces as being supplemental to German forces, similar to the way the Arab Legion is a supplement to the British. As such, there's nothing wrong with having German specialists attached to your KODAT detachment.

A few of those WWI weapons aren't so bad, actually, and a bit better than what the IJA and IJN are issuing to their troops with that damn understrength Arisaka round.
