I've been introduced to this game through Anaxagorax on the danish miniatures forum Powerfist.dk. I love anything WWII and have always been a fan of horror too, combining the two and all my childhood wet dreams has come true.
So far I've only aquired the core rules, but comes January the two remaining books will be in the pipeline. This is also where my problem lies... I would like to buy some miniatures to go with the books, but I am not sure if the list I've whipped up is the one I'll end up playing. The Occult expansion possibilities being the unknown factor.
The idea that spawned my list, came to be while I watched Band of Brothers yet again. As I was watching episode 4 called Replacements, it's the one with the airdrop into Holland and Operation Market Garden, I thought I could use this for the game. So I wanted to create an Airborne unit with Buffalo Armours and Robots, the detachment being part of MG to make their first operational fieldtest by airdrop, in order to test the combat readiness of Robots and Buffalo Armours, if they had been airdropped in.
The Core of the list is an Infantry Detachment. So in order to be able to field both types of Tesla devices I had two options. Either field a ARPA as my Elite choice or as a Veteran ARPA hero with Technician, I chose the latter. However, I would also like to add some kind of supernatural being to the list if possible but I am not sure what my options will be and if they fit into my twisted concept idea.
I have thought of adding a Warhero Airborne Officer as my elite choice, unless a better sub comes up from Occult expansion, but I prefer one with the Command Ability, to keep the detachment going when bullets start flying. Since I would like to add some kind of supernatural, is it possible to take an Airborne Officer as an Elite Hero and add something Supernatural to him at the same time? The last Green choice I have, is currently unused, and kept free until I know if it is needed as a delete for upgrade option, in order to add some kind of supernatural nastyness. I have thought of adding a Bazooka to the Buffalo instead of the .30cal, but I don't think we'll be seeing that many armoured vehicles in my gaming group anyways. The only thing I don't know, is what the Occult Expansion changes about the selection process of a detachment, and what nastyness it adds? And if I even want any of it... Which I most likely will.
The Airborne Heavy Weapon squad requires atleast one more infantry selection, as does the BAR option in the regular Airborne infantry squad. But as I mentioned above, this could be covered by the Airborne Officer which is an infantry selection, his Command Ability would come in handy so he is a good choice, if I can't find a suitable replacement. But I can atleast give him a hero upgrade to make him supernatural (if this is viable) and then I still have a free Green choice as the final selection to round out my detachment or I can use it as an upgrade.
Here is the list as it looks right now.
Infantry Detachment
1 Elite, 1 Veteran, 3 Regular, 2 Green, 1 Green choice substituted to Hero upgrade
Elite
Airborne Officer with Hero status
Veteran
ARPA Mechanic – Hero Technician
Regular
Buffalo Combat Armour, .30cal MG
Regular
GI Sergeant
Regular
US Airborne, M1918 BAR
Green
General Infantry Squad (Dutch resistance)
Green
General Infantry Heavy Weapons Squad (Dutch resistance)
60mm M2 Mortar
Technician Hero Choice
3 Robots
Special Orders
Change of Orders and Surrender
What would you guys suggest for the remaining choices and why do you think this option fits into my concept? What thoughts I've made are impossible with Occult Expansion and which ones are viable...
