We had our first session yesterday and it was up to me to explain everything. Of course there were some questions I had trouble answering.
Crew slot advancement When you advance a slot say from regular to veteran can you also advance a regular unit in that slot to veteran for free or would you have to take a veteran unit.
Rolling damage Because one crew had an armor 7 unit and because the rulebook mentions an example of rolling 25-29 damage we discussed whether damage can explode on 6's. Eventually I ruled against it, but can't explain how anyone could get above 25 damage.
Cover You can't trace LOS through a model. If another model is standing behind the first can you draw LOS to it if it's partially visible? If yes what is it's cover save?
charging/sprinting(1) Elite models sprinting doesn't make sense as they could move 4 times instead, but is that because they could sprint with their last AP and effectively move up to 6 times? (I'm assuming NO)
charging/sprinting(2) If a model looses AP (e.g. from failed life support) can they still charge with their remaining AP?
Campaigns When XP grant a character a stat increase do they also change rank? (i.e. a green is now a regular) If they increase in rank what slot do they occupy in the next scenario? If the occupy the slot matching their new rank you could run out of men to fill in the low ranking slots

One additional question.
Base size: I see no downside to always choosing the larger base size when having that choice. What gives?

(I'm assuming NO) To charge/sprint, a model expends all AP. The benefit to this is that you get a close combat action for free with a +2 to CC and a +2 to STR. You have to decide in this case with an elite, for example, if you want to attack multiple times or get the bonus. You may concentrate a CC in this fashion as well if you are currently in B2B with another model. I'll let others with more experience answer the others.

Regarding crewslots, check this thread for a good description of how to do it. If you're still in doubt, ask again: darksondesigns.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=2609Regarding cover from another model, it's not happened yet, so I can't say what we've done. And no you can only 'explode on 6s' when rolling to hit in melee. Hope that's all the questions now. Duncan

If I may insert a question which i have been thinking about, in ae-wwii, but same diff) can you charge into combat with an enemy who is visible on the other side of cover (behind a low wall for example?)

A model can always sprint/charge by giving up all it's AP, no matter how many it has, ie no matter whether it's lost them or not.
Regarding charging through cover, I'd say no, as you can't sprint through cover. Though I'd be tempted to waive that if the target is just the otherside of a low wall (one that could be fought over).
No idea by the campaign question - sorry. Duncan
