A specialized two stage munition. About the size of two or three hand grenades, after being armed and thrown, this munition uses an airburst fuse to detect when it's nearing the ground on the downward part of its arc. Once it detects ground, it detonites the first of its explosive charges, a small amount meant to send a ground piercing projectile deep into the soil. Then, after a predetermined amount of time, the specially shaped charge detonates blasting up a large chunk of soil. The resulting crater can be used as a foxhole for one person, maybe two if they're willing to get really close.
The in game effect is that you now have an instant foxhole almost anywhere you want one. However these munitions are heavy and costly to produce. Often assigned only to spearhead units or rapid response defensive units.

I am not sure that I like this one. It seems a little to "high tech" without having the right pulp "feel" (of course, this is my own opinion) Also, I cant see how it should be assigned to spearhead troops. When you make an assault you try to overrun the enemy positions, not make foxholes of your own, and when you are defending it would be a lot easier to just dig a trench.

Um, there's walking tanks, chemical and genetic engineering, occult beasts, and more... yet a two stage explosive device is too high tech?
And sure, it's no always useful, but when it is useful, it's very useful. Say the germans are on the way, and there's no time or the ground is too soft to dig proper foxholes quickly enough? Sure you could deploy a bit farther back, but what if the objective is closer to the enemy? Send in the defenders with these charges and they'll be ready in less than an hour.

I see my point about "high tech" really sound lame, but what I try to say is that it just isn't in my taste, which shouldn't be seen as an offense (I am sorry if that bis what it sound like).
However, I still cant see how this is useful. If the ground is too soft to dig proper foxholes how should this make it better? And if you want foxholes in a hurry send in some properly trained engineers with shovels and other digging tools and your foxholes is ready in less than an hour.

Not sure if this will fit into the planned world but we will see.
