Hey all
just ordered the rulebook, and looking forward to start playing my first miniature tabletop game ever.
While i wait on the rulebook im thinking about miniatures to buy for it and my question is this. I would like to have a crew who can perform "ok" under different objectives and i got this idea and would like the more experienced players to shut it down before i shell out the cash on fresh metal - if im totally off.
this is typed on both look of the figure and role.
1. sniper 1. grenade launcher guy 1. big dude with gatling type of weapon 1. "leader" type, after alot of reading here im wondering if this should be a psi. kind of guy
and then a couple or more "cannonfodder" kind of guys. and wondering about the get in close and lock down in melee aspect kind of carecters is need or suppression fire is more needed in this game.
this leads up to 7 figures, is this to little or do i need even more to enjoy my first game.
its kind of alot of mental ramblings and I hope the rulebook will bring me closer on choosing figures/crew, but while I wait for that its nice to look around on figures and hoping atleast some of you will comment.
enjoy life and may they dice god love you Inph

2 models is enough for a game, whether you'd find it enjoyable is hard to tell. I think you should read through the rules a couple of times. Read the forums, see what other people are using for crews and use that as inspiration (unless you want to go your completely own way). Since every model can be assigned an alien race it is nice to have a selection of models that differ just a bit so your opponent can easily tell them all apart. Not meaning you should have one of every race of every possible model, just that some things should be easily recognized. When you've built a crew, you have a much better idea of what models you'll need, THEN go model hunting. But you can easily opt for human models and make an all human crew, they are quite good in fact and versatile so you won't go totally wrong with them. around 7 models is easily made into a crew but still, wait untill you know what YOU would like to play with. If this is also your first time painting anything (that is, if you are planning on painting it at all) come back and ask in the painting forums, I can give you a very easily followed guide for how to paint things up easily and neatly.

There is a thread on the forum about using LEGO minifigs (http://darksondesigns.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bountyinfo&action=display&thread=2919) basically you can use whatever to play and then slowly get what you want in the way of models.
If this is the first time you are going into the miniature hobby don't get to many minis in the beginning. Half the hobby is painting and modelling - well it can be, or you can use prepaid minis or the previous mentioned LEGOs or toy soldiers or what ever. But if you buy minis you should also paint them as part of it, this part of the hobby can get quite expensive if you play some of the games with many models, but AE Bounty is a good place to start the painting part of the hobby.

Welcome to the fold. You can get by with 2 models and you can easily build a crew with upwards of 12 or more models.

hey again.
final got the book, and after a couple of read throughs and one game with mirror crews made by my brother to teach me the basics, I got to start crafting my own crew.
going for bounty hunters, standard crew and dropping a green slot for 1 for a regular to vet upgrade.
so going 2 vet, 2 regulars.
1. vet : gunsel, edasi, hero, assassin , g>g upgrade, particle beam rifle, 3 gear slots, beam boost, cloak, cyb arms for steady hands for 26" no penalty shooting.
1. vet : Head taker, arges, p>g upgrade, sword, 2 gear slots, mono wire, ardrenal boost
2. reg: Bounty killers, edasi, LRF slugthrower, 3 gear slots, light armor, ap rounds, self destuct
this was the plan so far, but my question ( one of a million ) is this a legal crew I cant really find anything about if its legal to take 2 of the same unit ( bounty killers )
but anyway, please comment if this is totally whacked, or if I did something terrible wrong.
enjoy your weekend Inph

You made a modification to the Standard Crew so it is now a Veteran Crew - which is perfectly fine, and might make sense in a campaign or some such Anyways looks fun, you might want to mix up your alien types a little since a human choose Hunter target after seeing what he is up against, and in your case that is mostly Edasi. This mean he will have +2 armor against all your shooting, and deal more damage etc. While you can take 2 Bounty Killers I would mix them up and take a Regulator and/or a Duster instead. Self Destruct is something you take if you expect to get in close and loose, I rarely build my crews to loose

your right, self destruct seems like a mindset of accepting defeat and smart oindg 4 different races for added durability against hunterX. so done some more reading and came up with this. 1. veteran gunsel edasi assassin beam rifle, cloak device, beam boost, cyb arms the sniper of the crew, and thinking about dropping cloak device for teleporter 2. veteran head taker arges sword, mono wire, ardrenal boost some kind of insane melee king, but somehow mentally unstable 3. Regular bounty hunter, haedi LRF slugthrower, light armor, AP rounds a footman type, more movement, objective taker and alot of shooting for suppressing fire 4. Regular duster graffi rocket launcher, gun, rapid reloader for dual shooting pr. turn the shock and awe guy and the rocket launcher seems fun with the insane range. does this looks better for a overall crew ? I personal love the 4 different races because then it gives room for choosing great miniatures for every slot.

Dual shooting?
You mean 1 shot per turn?
