Yeah, I agree. It's one of the things that as always irked me about the cover system in AE. We tend to use a modified version that says only stuff you are within 1" of counts as cover, providing it obscures part of your base, of course.

I don't look at things between the attacker and target as cover, but as things that make it hard to see and shoot around. The target gets a "cover bonus" from it. That's bow I view the cover system in AE.

Things that make it hard to shoot a target is by definition cover, it is obscuring the target

You don't have to define what is cover in a normal situation, but what is cover when someone is shooting at you without LOS, with say a Smart geared Rocket Launcher.
Then its important to have a clear definition of cover, especially when it comes to being suppressed.

Well Im hardly a staff member but heres how I would handle it if I was playing or the guy next to me asked for help.
Since a smart missle doesnt even need line of sight we can safely ignore cover in between the shooter and the poor target. That really should simplify it down to what sort of cover the target is in. As all the real world examples of this sort of weapon concept are launched up into the air I would count any overhead cover, in addition to anything the target is in base contact with. But thats me
