Yes, this is good news. Making it so that we're speechless makes sense, all the hassle we've been throwing your way to get it done, warrants some silence.

Yup...I think abbysdad will post it soon or tomorrow. He needed to access the server instead of going through the back end of Wordpress because of the size.

It's a 9.9 MB PDF. Chris did a great job and from the first reaction from the crew I think you guys will like it. The Hive Trooper should not be viewed before a meal or sleep.

I've just skimmed over the issue and my first thought was... Huh? Is this it? Since I am not yet into AE Bounty, more than half of the issue is useless to me, which I am not going to hold against you though, since I expect to get into Bounty at some point later on (sometime later this year perhaps). So I skipped these sections on first read through. The Black Site gang is likely to give me a better insight into Bounty gaming and they look entertaining to use and seem to be on par with the previous releases for the game. However I am into WWII and was expecting much more than a few measly teasers for what is to come, sadly this is where the issue doesn't warrant the long wait in my opinion. Although the Hivetrooper is an awsome pointer to what is to come with the Japanese and gives a Jap player an interesting unit to play, this sadly isn't enough for an entire issue of 76 pages to entertain me much. I was hoping to see a larger change to the WWII system in regards to detachment unit equipment and special abilities, like you have done in AE Bounty. Something you guys mentioned a while ago in regards to the now utterly underpowered OSS agent, SD Agent and Russian Politruk when comparing them to the heroes of the Occult detachments. This eventual change to the system will give players a better chance to customise heroes and make them more unique and entertaining to field. Then there is the "annoying" teasers for the british that will be released sometime in may/june (hopefully). You are toying with me... ;D The different articles in the issue, are good and must be a part of OTW in the future too, but they will miss the mark on some of us as all articles will, which is expected I guess. I will certainly go through them over the next few days as some light bedtime reading. I don't like the beast rules for AE. Perhaps the reason for this dislike is, that I was expecting common animals like Elephants, Tigers, Rhinos and the like with some kind of faction specific way to alter them into combat units fit for the battlefield, and not supersized moviemonsters from the fifties and sixties, able to push tanks around as if they were tincans. They will probably fit right in with bounty, but I feel they miss the mark in WWII. There is plenty of freaky weird elements as it is, why introduce giant crabs and pterodactyls, when more down to earth experiments would be so much more plausible to introduce given the setting? Overall... Hype sux. It brought my expectactions through the roof, and left me sorely disappointed in the end. I will be looking forward to the next issue though and in the meantime wait for the release of the updated British empire list coming soon, as well as a hope that you will be able to fix the detachment building issue I mentioned some time soon too.

Fair comments. FYI, the Brits do get a war elephant. And you are right, the beasts are much more oriented towards bounty. We had a lot of requests to do something like that for bounty. When we started play testing them, people asked about blasting big dinosaurs with their tanks too. And as with all OTW rules, if you don't want them in your game, you do not have to use them.
However, one of your comments i haven't heard before and is very valuable to us.
What sort of mix do you think that the magazine should have between bounty and ww2? 50/50? Every now and then a blow out issue focusing on only one game? Let us know.

What comment? It doesn't have to be a set ratio per issue, but a 50/50 overall would be a commendable ratio to aim for. Hyping one game in blowout issues in preparations to a new release for that game is also understandable and from a company point of view the right thing to do financially. But for us gamers it is more about the actual content, and not the hype anyways... So from a gamers point of view I'd say yes that is what I would like to see.

OK. I think we hit 50/50 with this issue, but I took your comment to mean that you weren't interested in more over the top weird or bounty stuff, you wanted more WW2 stuff.
The other comment about the original officers being underpowered now is interesting. We'll have to think about that.
But thanks much for the comments. Constructive criticism is valuable to us. It's how we get better.
Cheers,
Chris

I do want more non weird stuff released that's true, but not if the weird war stuff gets left behind. My general grievance is the lack of alternative nations during the war as well as more unit options, not all players want to play as one of the major five. Many of the smaller nations could be introduced fairly easy to the game if given some thought. The polish for instance, wore british uniforms and were drilled according to british doctrine, but had an itch for fighting the huns and reclaim their country. They could quite easily be released in OTW, by adding one or two flavourful units to the brit list, for a "polish list only option" fitting for them. Giving them a set of fitting Special rules replacing the british and/or alllowing a select few otherwise german or other faction only templates or similar. Giving us players more options to make a list that could surprise an opponent or just breathe new life into old ones.
The combination of the two parts of the setting makes a whole for me, I like the mixture. But the beasts somehow lack the wibe I have about the setting and giant crabs and the like just aren't in my scope for a weird war setting, that might just be me though. What I was expecting when you announced the content teaser, was creatures similar in nature to the genemodified Tiger overall, and not Godzilla wannabes.
You're very welcome. The concept of the game is so casual and down to earth that I really like it and your "listen to the customer policy" so refreshing that I really want to help make it better. Not only for myself but for everyone.
