Hi trueronin,
Part of the beast release for WWII was simply because of the overlap in rules. Since we could release beasts for one ruleset, we went ahead and did the other.
As you say, these new rules feel more at home with Bounty, then great, but they'll also work with WWII, which is great.
We have had discussions since I've come along about using elephants and other animals in a historical perspective- For example, how do we base these large animals? Do they have reach? How do you add a detachment for each faction to make it balanced? Does each faction get an "elephant" anyway?
It's on our radar, but something that will come along with time.
Hope it helps, and glad you're making suggestions. It's what the creative types behind the scenes need to give you what you want.

Hi Bob. It sure does. Given the overlap it is quite understandable that you would release the rules for both settings. I just spoke my mind about my feeling for the game not being with giant or even gargantuan mutated animals. To me, if you had released the beasts section as a "monsters from ancient myths and legend" concept with creatures such as the Chimera, Medusa or the Hydra (to keep them in the same sizerange) for example they would have been more at home in AE WWII.
One other thing came to my mind while I was typing. If you do a WWII to Bounty revision this could open up for more alternate settings. Some of the more modern and contemporate eras come to mind. Vietnam, Somalia or even the two Gulf wars as well as gang warfare in urban enviroments in the modern day destroyed New York as per AE WWII history. Since some of the weapons used in WWII are forebears to modern weapons a conversion might be possible. I am not saying this isn't possible from the GetGo already if you use weapon stats from AE WWII as a template and the detachment selection system from AE Bounty. Since I don't own AE Bounty yet I can only guess, but I think that would be possible and simple to do.

I think that's where the Skunkwerkz stuff is headed, trueronin, if I read the article there correctly - getting a set of common rules for the 'AE' brand and being able to adjust it as needed to certain timeframes or genres. For instance, I'd love to have a modern warfare equivalent for AE, and I'm loving some of the development going into Crimson Kingdoms - it shows the minimal adjustment and editing that is required to hit diverse targets.
And with Darkson Design's repeated calls to 'use whatever minis fit the setting', as well as producing their own stuff, I think that is really possible.

Yeah, I am reading that article right now. I guess I will have to pay close attention to the Skunkwerkz part of the forum from now on.

I will. In the meantime, use away, I'm just glad that some of my ideas are useful for a change. Come to think of it, I really need to get my hands on AE Bounty.

Awsome OTW - As a Bounty player I'm thrilled with this issue. New faction, New fluff and Beasts as well!
I just can't figure out why the faction objectives for Black site prison gangs and Apostles are so hard to achieve compared to the rulebook factions. You are practically forcing players to to choose "tertiary objective" as their dirty trick to stand a chance.

I just can't figure out why the faction objectives for Black site prison gangs and Apostles are so hard to achieve compared to the rulebook factions. You are practically forcing players to to choose "tertiary objective" as their dirty trick to stand a chance. Ah, I can speak to that. For the Apostles and the Prison Gangs the intent was to build them into a campaign story. For example, use the rules of a scenario to state at the beginning that after your crew has fought its way into corporate headquarters, all of the enemy models that can be captured are part of the dark cabal that the Apostles are seeking to bring down. Just like it says in the intro to each faction, we wanted to expand the game and let you build stories with your crews. However, If it is not working out that way, tell us. When the issues are collected and the volume is put together, we will be including all of the errata and comments in the OTW material. And something like not being able to ever win a faction objective is certainly something to correct at that point. You'll be relieved to hear then that the Slavers have one of the easiest faction objectives. Just capture enough enemy models. Done. Of course, the way the Zedarri squabble with each other, that can be difficult
