Patrons provide access to resources and support and require their servants to perform certain tasks. They offer parties access to unique dirty tricks and weird units, but they require one of several special objectives (to advance the patron's agenda) to be performed during a scenario or else the party has a penalty in experience points towards advancement.
A patron is a free party upgrade.
