Had a great game today - 2 German players vs. me and my Allies. I was fielding an American Infantry Support detachment combined with an NKVD Experimental detachment. My opponents had a Wehrmacht Veteran detachment and a 5-model SS Occult detachment. We got the 'Capture the Shrine' mission that ended in a dead tie (emphasis on dead).
The Schutzkommando One Man Army opened the game up with a 30-inch hail of fire killing the American officer (crack shot that guy). Did not start well for the Allies. Werewolf #1 charged towards the American forces hoping for a quick sweep but was blown to bits with a bazooka blast to the face. Wehrmacht and NKVD forces exchanged fire as the Soviets slowly advanced towards the objective.
Mid-game was full of Americans trying desperately to hold together and continued Soviet advance towards fortified German lines. A second werewolf (this one a Veteran) reached the Americans, causing them to eventually crumble, but not before extended fire from the M1919 took down the beast. Once the Veteran Draugr hit the American lines, they fell apart in rout, but a final lucky shot from the mortar managed to fell the Krieghexe as it continually granted the Wehrmacht sniper 'second sight'.
Meanwhile, on the Allied left flank, the Soviets managed to break through the German lines with concentrated fire from Psi Commandos, Psi Cannons and Banshees. Once the Chumans hit the Germans they began to voluntarily fall back but the Wehrmacht troops surrendered leaving only the Wehrmacht officer and sniper.
When the dust settled, the Draugr, Banshees and Sniper held the shrine without a clear victor. The Wehrmacht failed to capture the Soviet Politruk though the SS held on to the vital bunker in the far corner of the field. The Soviets managed to claim control of a hill overlooking the battlefield, though the Americans failed to delay the enemy. The Americans and Wehrmacht suffered serious attrition though both the SS and NKVD had enough troops remaining to hold it together.
All in all, a great game ending in a hard-fought draw! Lessons learned by the Allies: draugr are impossible to destroy (even with psi-weapons) and werewolves don't like bazookas in the face.
