Sadly, I haven't posted anything in a while. Need to do this regularly and keep moving. These are a pair of Soviet Banshees I converted with a few leftover bits to make into German Volkstrum for my all female SS Amazononian Unit. Meant to have them done for Gencon of 2011..., but better late than never. Attachments:

Awesome! Your Green stuff skills, as mentioned above are fantastic. However, from a historical point of view, I'd like to ask you about the uniforms for the models...? I noticed that you didn't remodel the riding trousers and Jackboots part of the original model, I'm curious as to why not? To my knowledge they were only used by high ranking officers (in all service branches) and by the Schutzstaffels Parade uniforms (IIRC) and then of course also by the Cavalry Divisions of both the Heer and Waffen SS. If you intend to portray the black uniforms (not used for combat duty though) all is good, but if not you'd have to (historically) model them in combat kit and dress on top of the M43 Combat Smock, which again is worn on top of the basic M43 Waffen SS uniform without shoulder straps. The riding trousers and Jackboots (as well as the shoulder straps) don't fit in unless painted in the black Dress uniform, swastika armband, polished steel helmet and all. As they are Waffen SS models I'd expect to see them in either Oak leaf summer/autumn pattern (M43), or in Pea Dot (M44) camouflage patterns, either one of them looks great on a miniature. There are some great articles to help you out on wikipedia as well as many picture examples if you use google's search engine to find them. Be warned though, that you might end up clicking in on sites that promote nazism and/or contains content of violent or of strong emotional nature, if you use some of the more obvious search phrases like "SS uniform" "M44 Pea Dot" etc. mentioned in my post. But they are looking awesome nonetheless, and I am envious of your sculpting skills, show us more, please. Edit: As a side question, do you intend to replace the weapons...?

Thanks, guys. Excellent remarks about the uniforms. You are correct. True ronin. I don't have a good historical explanation for the uniforms. My hobbyist explanation is that I am collecting ww2 German soldier girls from multiple manufacturers to make a single unit. Most of the sculpts are officer types so most of the unit already has officer looking pants and jackboots. The banshee legs were well sculpted so went with it. From an AE story, I am saying this a unit of German girls with ancestral bloodlines leading back to the legendary amazon warriors. It seemed like an SS jurisdiction to bring out some latent natural warrior talents. I am going with the idea that this is a small, first of its kInd unit. (especially since I am reading amazon warriors were thought to be from turkey or eastern Europe.) they get their pick of uniforms. Almost all of the models have jackboots, riding pants, and four pocket jacket. The few with the shorter jackets are the officers. The girls look good in high leather boots anyway... As for paint schemes, I am still undecided. All black would be pretty evil looking. Mixing some green and pea dot might be a good idea to soften the look. Maybe trousers in black or dark grey or green.
Weapons are a problem. 95% of the sculpts have Mp-40's. I'll never have a true WYSIWYG for AE so wasn't too concerned. The Soviet rifles I may file or add a few bits to make a little more generic.

The most iconic weapons from all four major powers are available, from the german MG42 to the russian Mosin Nagant. They are dirt cheap too, and I don't think taxes should be a problem for overseas countries, as the pricetag is so small. Their website is theassaultgroup.co.uk

I second True Ronin's The Assault Group recommendation. Victory Force has some as well, but most have hands molded to them, and those are man hands.
As for the mixed uniforms, they could simply be a mishmash of thrown together items found on hand.
Think of it this way, it's not only late WWII (aside from being Weird War II), and Germany doesn't have all the resources it needs. Finding proper uniforms in women's sizes are not going to be easy. So a girls got to do what a girls got to do. If it takes wearing some dress and combat clothing together, do it. And as for boots, women are going to wear what they damn well want, stylish, practical, or whatever. Just don't get between them and their footwear, especially if they're armed.
