Didn't I recall the Germans having a special version of the MP-40 that had a bent barrel which allowed it to shoot around corners?
This would make a nice squad support weapon as one model could activate, providing cover fire (although very innacurate) without being LOS.

Apparantly, production in the Elefant was messed up in it not having a mounted MG, so a twisted barrel was the solution.

well whichever weapon it was modelled after.
have it as sort of a squad support weapon, so not everyone can have it.
it requires 1 AP to switch barrels, so it can either shoot straight or around corners.
Accuracy is highly reduced while shooting around corners (+1 to Shooting Target value)

This was only useful at point blank range as the bend in the barrel tended to distort and "break apart" the bullet thereby turning into for all intents and purposes a sort of mini shotgun blast. While I can see this as a great defensive idea, the majority of shooting in the game is at range and I just don't see this being useful .

Not all of the shooting in the game is long range. It really depends on the scenario you end up with. One of the German Sniper rifles has a range of only 18 inches . Why the hell would you want to use that you say?? ‘Vampyr’ scope, an advanced sniper scope capable of operating at night. These early advances in optics made German snipers deadly under cover of darkness. This will become important in the next expansion. ;D And is rock solid in close and personal games.

Best defense against IR is other IR. The world turns into spot lights and everyone starts shooting at that IR beam. Great fun.

The corner shot probably wont be that useful of an option unless you convert it to something like a true shotgun - though I'd enjoy doing a US sergeant with a M1897 Trenchgun - if it scared the germans enough during WW1 to get them to level accusations that it broke the Geneva conventions it would be amusing to see in the game

The corner shooter was for the MP44 and was so awkward and bulky that it didn't have any real combat practicality to it. It did shoot around corners though which is pretty cool. Victory Force made a mini of one that is rather cool.
