Dont do that just yet. I first thought we would take the time of WWII and a little bit behind that and then have the game not set in a specific date, but okay things are still open and not determined set.

I think it would be cool to leave the timeframe up to the players imagination. kinda like Jin Roh. You have Nazi's and Panzer Troopers but they never say a specific timeframe... Leaves you thinking and lets your imagination do all the work...

We will do a general time line with major events you will have loads of freedom to dictate what type of gear fits into what time.

I'd like to see the game set in the 50's, near the space race and the nuclear weaponry advancements of the time.
I feel that if it's too far in the future, it'll lose its pulp charm.

Ok, a few pointers:
-Spain was 'neutral' during WWII, but sort of supporting the Axis forces, let them join freely without Italy occupying it. -why do the Russians reinforce Rommel's forces? They are enemies... -let Argentina join the Axis earlier, in the late 1940s. Then let Chile, Bolivia and Peru be allied forces, attacking Argentina and later on also Brasil.

-I think it would be interesting to a very divided Latin America, some fighting for the Allies, the others fighting for the Axis. The US trying to establish their "colonies" there. "Colonies" in the lines of countries with puppet governments and more in control by large US companies (United Fruit for example).
-Let the Germans also join the space-race, let them send rockets into space containing sattelites and probes.
-Let the French and British produce their own versions of Mechs, probably variations on the American models.
-Another interesting front might be Palestina and the Middle East. I know we're not supposed to really promote any politican ideologies here so we have to be careful with this (a little bit), but many Jewish people fled to Palestina. So what about have certain missions be played there, British and the Jewish refugees on one side and the local Arabians (and perhaps also Nazis) on the other side.

Actually, the situation in what was then called the Palestinian Mandate was a lot more complex and can under no circumstances be reduced to "brits+jews vs arabs". The british, the jews and the arabs had a lot of legitimate grievances with each other, which sometimes flared up into outright warfare. The nazis tended to view the arabs and their leaders as "useful idiots" that could easily be duped to serve as pro-axis mouthpieces.
If Rommel comes a-knocking on the gates of Jerusalem, my bet is that the arabs, jews and britsish would present a united, if unsteady front.

Remember that Rommel got support for local militas in Egypt against the British. The Jews and Arabs were in conflict with eachother, the British were like right in the middle due to their Imperialist past. We could have something that the Nazis create some big riot in Palestina before the arrive, leaving the area badly defending, making it easier for them to invade.

How far in time does the game go? Are the majority of battles set during WWII but with an alternate universe feel, or are the events taking place far past WWII (not just a few decades in the aftermath) but stuff still looks sort of the same because it is an alternate universe and technology and ideology evolved differently and the war never really ended?

Personally I would not let the timeline go too far, perhaps into the 50s or 60s as the furthest date, this wouldnt mean that the war has ended or anything, just that the game only goes till there, sort of a minute before the apocalypse feel almost.

I think we will keep the Russians enemy's of the Germans. We are working on scenarios to play and it is just better to keep it this way. For the love of God dont have the Soviets and the Germans allied. For one the USSR and Germany were utterly ideologically opposed to each other - one Fascist, one Socialist. Also, according the Nazi ideology of racial supremacy us Slavs were considered an inferior race...meaning that no matter what the Nazi claws would have to dig into Russia. Also, by allying the Soviets and the Germans one would miss out on some of the most interesting imagery of WWII - the whole Eastern Front. Surely there is rich imagery to draw from things like the battle for Stalingrad, the supposed Sniper duel between Noble Sniper Vasily Zeitsev and the german super-sniper sent to kill him. Lots of rich imagery to work on there.
