I think Darkson agreed with me (and thus also with you) that the Germans and Russians would not ally! ;D

What about nukes? Im sure everyone agree that nuclear weapons had a huge impact on the "real" war, but they havent been mentioned in this thread, and if nuclears is not gonna be used at least explain why
Im thinking something like: 1944:American scintists develop first nuclear warhead, but it is never used as it blows up before being transported out of the laberatory and kill all the responsible scintists, thereby ending all nuclear developmnet in the world before it had really started

Well the ideas posted for the timeline in this topic as just concepts at the moment, no definite ideas. The problem with nuclear weapons is that it would have a very big impact, for example the US would fire nuclear warheads at Berlin, it would mean Germany could collapse in one blow, the game would sort of be dead then.
This would only be valid for the American then, the Germans and Soviets would still try to create nuclear weaponry.
An explaination might be something we have also seen in the Cold War, the nuclear powers (in this case the USSR and the US) were too scared of using nuclear weapons because the enemy would use them too, resulting in a world wide nuclear war. This could be the reason why the Soviets, Germans and Americans havent deployed nuclear weapons yet, I mean throwing nuclear bombs on Berlin would not only potentially destroy the Nazi governmental location, the radiation would kill and infect a very large part of the European population, the winds would simply spread the radiation throughout the continent, a very dangerous situation indeed.
Welcome to the board btw!!! ;D

Just a notes about South America.
Argentina: Read my contribution in the Argentine Front post. Brazil: I see doubfull the brasilians joining the Axis. They were pro-allies back them, even sending troops and fighter and bombers pilots. Spain: Spain was beign ruled by Franco, a facist dictator whit stron likeness to Hitler, i dont see the need of invading. Chile: I can see the Chileans being neutral, whit some facist and soviets undergound movements. Peru: Why not a soviet revolution, I can see it. Venezuela.: Maybe invaded by the USA to secure the oil reserves. Mexico: Maybe a civil war betewn netives backed by the soviets, and landlords backed by the facist some, the usa others.
And i dont see any good the interplanetary part. Keep the war at earth, more widespread, whit mechs and super tanks and ufos, but not in space, for the moment.

I think Peru should be pretty pro US, probably some military dictator backed by the US.
The civil war in Mexico should be between the peasants and the US backed landlords. The Soviets refuse to back up the peasants because it might lead to a conflict against the US, hence the USSR ditches these peasants.
But I strongly agree with mekorig that we should keep the timeline on earth, no interplanetary stuff.

UNLESS your throw reality completely into the warp, GERMANY and RUSSIA would never be allies!
SPAIN was pro -NAZI throughout the war.
SOUTH AMERICA as others have described it sounds about right as far as WWII goes. also consider possibility of other brushfire wars between smaller countries for their own reasons or because they are supported by the AXIS or the ALLIES.
CENTRAL AMERICA and the "neutral" CARIBBEAN island states would be involved in a prolonged WW II as allies of one side or the other. EUROPEAN possessions in the CARIBBEAN might actually see raids by commandos, airborne forces, air forces, and interdiction/strikes naval air, surface or submarine forces - ditto for EUROPEAN colonies and territories in CENTRAL AMERICA.
RUSSIA and JAPAN would be playing footsie as both had their hands full fighting the current war and did not need the complications of any new massive conflict.
i would keep the timeline prior to 1960; any "space war" as such would be limited to very small, very expensive, and very lethal close orbital combats between AXIS "space bombers " and ALLIED "space interceptors".
GERMANY would have both the V1 and V2 available in numbers, as well as improved versons of same. so, it just possible that GERMANY is capable of launching them, as well as crude ICBMs tipped with explosive, biological or chemical warheads. once the GERMANS have ICBMs of some sort, the ALLIES would not have things as "smooth" as they did during the actual war. consider an epidemic of some sort released by one or more ICBMs "aimed" at NEW YORK CITY, impacting in the surrounding areas, and if lucky, on target!
or closer target cities within range of the latest versions of the improved V1 and V2 missiles loades with high explosive, chemical or biological warheads maybe the GERMANS have actually developed a sea-going version of the V1 that is transported and launched by surfaced submarines, too.
sure the AMERICANs have the A-BOMB; and y'all can bet your butt that the GERMANS, JAPANESE, and RUSSIANs are all busting a gut to get it too. but the AMERICAN A-BOMB is delivered by a manned heavy bomber (think B-36 here). but do the GERMANS control the skies over GERMANY because of new war tech (surface to air missiles, air to surface missiles, or air to air missile. most folks have not a clue as to how many sophisticated guide weapons the GERMANS were developing as well as the ones that actually saw limited combat) and aircraft (maybe the GERMANS actually got the ME262 into combat earler than it actually did and in greater numbers than they actually had. that would put a whole new monkey wrench into the ALLIES strategic bombing of GERMANY.
and maybe the GERMANS succeeded in sharing their tech and weapons with JAPAN (they tried very hard to do so; some of it actually got used but most did not). sooo, much for AMERICAN strategic bombing of the HOME ISLANDS!
personally and reasonably, i think NAZI tank production would slow down and fall back to something more useful and easier to produce than "the latest super-tank". think along the lines of a very improved PANTHER or a super -improved MK IV. maybe the GERMANS have developed aircushion technology, and have aircushion combat vehicles "floating" above the surface of the battlefield (i mean at believeable heights, like modern air cushion vehicles) . or maybe the BELL PROJECT EMF lift and drive propulsion systen has been successfully developed.
also a "detailed official timeline" would be very beneficial to the overall game, very helpful to scenario writers, and campaign gamers; this is a must to avoid the " WRG ANCIENTS and WH40K stress disorder" that affects to many players (cheat, be slick, look for ways around the rules, etc) now and has for too many years. and deffo keep the time prior to 1960!
HELL, most gamers that play 40K "think they are having fun" but would not actually know "fun" if it bonked them in the balls to get their attention! just some thoughts!

There is an official timeline - its in the core rule book. It goes to the year the game is currently set in (1946)
The A-bomb has effectively been negated as MacArthur doesnt have the political will to employ it again.
The bombing of the Japanese home islands has slowed down some as the US has additional issues on the continent, courtesy of the Japanese.
Actually the Ratte super tank has already been confirmed for the Middle East/African campaign book.
Cheating or otherwise attempting to "be slick" will result in visits from the Darkson anti Zombie agitator squad....
Your dredging up a thread 3 1/2 years old to talk about stuff covered in the core rule book.

It is called thread necromancy... A good rule of thumb: if the topic is more than a year old, you should probably leave it be.
