The Mogolians wasn't really fond of the soviets, so I can see them working on both sides, depending on whom they think is the lesser evil: Soivets or Japanese. The battles of the Soivet/Japanese war was extremley fierce, with the famous banzai and sucide attacks from the Japanese side, and a grusome tendency to kill prisoners on the soviet side. Definantly an interesting warzone.
I remember we have discussed it before, will try and find the thread.

There was a thread for the China war which got turned into a Soviet vs Japanese thread. This was more focussed on this campaign. Note that Mongolia turned into a communist state in the late 20s, and they became allies of the Soviets, they even remained loyal to Moscow after the Sino-Soviet split. So it might be cool to have them as loyal pro Soviet allies.

Ah, but at the time they had just suffered rather badly at the hands of Lysenko and the Commissars. As Tord says it seems more likely that Mongolian auxilaries would fight for either side (and both sides would probably re-use POW's: Mongols experimented on by Unit 731 or Mongolians forced to fight as penal troops for the Soviets.).

Hmm the religious groups and shamanic tribes rebelled against the communists. Perhaps we could have weird magical pulpy units in this conflict fighting alongside the Japanese.

Shamans are certainly something I'd like to see. And who knows what weird European occult artifacts Subotai brought back from the Mongol invasion of Europe...

That might be a reason to add German expeditions to the mix, always looking for new artefacts to turn the tide of the war.

And also gives a good reason for Force 136 and Detatchment 101 parties to be in the area too...

A secret war, fought between elite teams from the allied and axis powers, right under the nose of the Russians and the Japanese... I like that! I would say mongol shamans are necessary to add to the Japanese army. And by the way, any of you guys heard about the mad baron of mogolia? He was executed in 1921, but a little magic might change that.Would be an interestingcharacter to add to the mix. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Ungern_von_Sternberg

Wow...thats one crazy man. I think the surviving White Russians have a lot of potential and I love the idea of that guy ruling a white Russian fief on the Soviets doorstep. Like a Mad Mullah of Mongolia! Nice one Tord!
