This is more a background question as a respons to the 'hero' thread, will this game include existing historical figures? Will Rommel, Goering, Stalin, etc still be in the background? Would it be able to use for example Rommel as a commander or would they remain figures from the background?

They might become named "Heros".
MacArthur, Rommel, Goering, Stalin would all be great to have in the game as playable "Heros". We have been playing with this idea for sometime.

I would suggest that you could only play with them in certain territories and if you have an army of a certain size. Why play with Stalin anyways?

Well especially with a figure like Rommel I would only use him in like campaigns and with large armies, this would go for all historical commanders.
I dont really see how we could put in historical politicians in the game, politicians wouldnt go and fight wars, perhaps have them as objectives. For example a mission in which you would have to transport Goering to a certain location while the Partisans are trying to destroy the transport vehicle carrying Goering.

Stalin was the "Man of Steel", so it only makes sense that he could be fielded as a giant power armor guy. ;D

I think it would be cooler to make up your own personalities, that way you have more creative freedom with their backgrounds, abilities, etc., and especially when they were where. Just an idea James

I like that idea, however I think we should combine it, for example your character get ordered by Rommell to attack the British or something

We were planing on you being able to create you own heros with the pulp hero thing. Historical figures would be in the story line and be playable but more than likely only in large games.

HOWDY!
i am new here and starting to read backwards to see what there is to see/learn.
most of the historical figures mentioned never even got within gunshot of a live enemy combatant during the war . . . and then there is the for certain to follow political baggage that would follow somoe of them.
sooo, DAWGIE, says _WHY_ use real life people on the tabletop of an alternate reality sci fi wargame as player characters or field commanders? i think ot would be much more preferable to have the gamers use PCs/NPCs of their own creation in their games., and it sure will avoid a lot of greif for everyone from the production company down to the poor sod at the tabletop . . .
"My guys are invincible! MACARTHUR is leading the assault in person!"
GAWD, i can see anyone who knows anything about MACARTHUR in WW II keeling over in uncontrollable peels of laughter just thinking about such an implausible event!

Well what of Patton? Since the time line is eschewed i would assume President Macarthur would be ok with him coming back into the limelight.

To be serious though, Rasputin would be a great addition to the RoA. Even if it is just an over the wire addition. He would be Simply Terrifying.
