The Navy uniform is GAY. Give that guy a shot gun so he can end his gayness for putting on something like that.
Yep a shotgun. Shotgun.
That was on topic right? Shotgun.

No, Cilionelle, that uniform looks like garbage. Almost as bad as this: And check out the 'stashes on these two winners. I suppose if the Australian Navy and the American Navy launched a joint strike against the crab people under the sea, we'll be set. Oh, and Rob, I don't think you should be calling other services' uniforms gay... Just wear your tri-colors. No one will question it. The winner for pimpest uniform ever, mostly because it makes you look like a 1970's era pimp: That cape is awesome. I've never seen anyone actually wear it, though. I wonder why.... Oh, and shotguns.

New here so pardon any blunders in my opinions, that said.....
I think most of the comments are concerning 'traditional' pump-action shotguns but I think the venerable over-under models are being overlooked to dare an unintentional pun.
I could see an over-under shotgun easily becoming a squad support weapon if various special purpose 'shells' were available. A few which obviously come to mind are scaled down rocket propelled grenades, mini-missiles if you will, to add reach to the teeth of the 'loads' offered.
White phosphorous (WP) comes to mind as one such shell, another being a scaled down armor piercing (AP) round for penetrating lightly armored targets. High Explosive (HE) would come in handy in many encounters and the ever popular High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAP) which can end most arguments in squad level engagements.
And given the setting of a Weird War conflict, 'specialized' and exotic 'loads' would not be uncommon, anything from conventional chemical, biological and (non-conventional) radiologicals would share the battlefield with anti-zombie viral agents to flesh eating microbes themselves.

The one big flaw with an overunder shotgun is rate of fire. Its great for shooting birds (seriously, they balance better then pumps) but it cant lay down fire like a support weapon should. Go to Zombiesmith's website and look at the support weapons for his Quar line - they have shotguns that are intended as support weapons. These have more in common appearance wise with the modern 40mm Mk19 grenade launcher and the 20mm Bofor's of WW2 then anything you'll tote around in person.
You are right about the various rounds (well except for the microbe one as there are NO zombies in AE). THe problem with shotguns as squad support weapons is feeding them. Even the big drumfed automatic shotguns like the Striker and the Pancor Jackhammer and the Atchinson Armaments AA-12 only have ammunition capacities of approximately 10-15 rounds.

My thanks for the kind reply, John and much appreciate your comments.
My referral to zombies was more generic as to such in various Weird WWII setting and not the AE-WW2 game itself, pardon unintentional my faux pas there.
Agreed about the concerns of carrying the volume of ammunition needed for a shotgun to be an effective weapon in combat in general, close quarters engagements notwithstanding.
If allowed to toss an idea out, has there been any discussion of a LeMat styled weapon carried by troops in AE-WW2 ?

If you mean the Lemat revolver(with shotgun shoehorned in) - the pistols are very generic but something like a Lemat or Hellboys Samaritan would be very nice for a specific hero type, maybe a Vatican agent or occult hunter.
A somewhat more silly solution to the ammunition issue is one I found in a Harry Dresden story by Jim Butcher. One of the characters was using Dragons Breath rounds, kind of like a shotgun fired flame thrower. However since shotguns dont do well when exposed to that kind of heat he used a large number of side by side double barrels, in a golf bag! Id never want to carry that into combat - but I could see a slightly crazy Brit or OSS agent doing that. Toss in a 9 iron for close combat....
