US as far as I know concentrated on Army intelligence groups and sort of left the whole spy thing to the by now firmly entrenched SOE. They might have had something else but I dont know of it.
Ok, ok, the Yanks were all over the Americas- but the rest of the world was ignored (*cough* League of Nations *cough*)
Hmm, cant see actual German troops fighting for the Americans in order to attack the Russians. After all the SS Volunteer regiments were all about that- if you want to fight Soviets you join the Wermacht....

I can see Americans attacking the Russians in order to have the German scientist safely in their own hands. They attack the Russians together in order to flee to the US.

Sorry, German troops fleeing to the US? They might fight then but why would they want to flee to the US.....?

Many Germans tried to surrender to the US instead of the Russians. Why? The Germans claimed the Russians wanted revenge for being invaded, hence the Russians were crueler towards the German population. (be it civilian or military)
The idea of moving to the US and making lots of money might also be appealing to German scientists who are about to be captured with by the US or the USSR.

Yes, German scientists/troops might want to surrender...but they arent losing the war yet! So they sort of wouldnt defect....

Hence the idea of these units infiltrating the mainland. I mean if your house is surrounded by both Russian and American commandos who would you rather be captured by in that situation?

By the Americans but I cant see captured Germans fighting for the Yanks. Nor can I see certain Germans surrenduring- the chemicals might well stop it. Also they may be surrounded but they always were surrounded geographically.

The scientist is about to get captured, he can pick if he can be caught by the Americans or the Russians. The Americans will attack the Russians to prevent them from getting the scientist. The scientist will order his bodyguards to attack the Russians. So the captured Germans arent fighting for the Yanks, they are fighting alongside the Yanks.
A scientist is a normal human being, they would probably surrender, this figure might have a small group of soldiers as his personal bodyguard who would follow his orders.
There is a difference between being surrounded geographically and having Americans in your frontyard and Russians in your backyard, you know you cant get out.

OK, fighting alongside....but why did you seem to mention Germans fighting for the US just generally in order to fight Russians...or did I read wrong. Confused....
Depends- some of the scientists might well be complete nutters or ardetn Nazis who wouldnt surrendur.
Yes but the Germans dont, in AE as far as I can see the Germans are an equal faction and Germany has not yet been successfully invaded.

Hence why I suggested of having only a small unit of American moving (infiltrating) deep into german territory to kidnap these figures

But if they are only a small unit then the scientist knows that if he resists the team may be mauled enough to make extraction with a resisting prisoner impossible.

Oh come on! Work with me here I doubt every scientist would be located in a heavily guarded fortress. Its kind of the idea you also see in strategy games or several shoot em up in which a small unit is assigned to missions which would normally seem impossible. Something also similar to Dirty Dozen or the Last Chancers in 40k.

Oh fine! All I want is for a centralised permanent unit then I'm with you. ;D ;D Though Dirty Dozern feel like a special unit to me for the Yanks.

And than we moved back on topic talking about occult stuff. ;D Spirit troops anyone? ;D I have a few NASTY ideas on how to include spirits of fallen warriors in an army that would not be the typical "Spirit Host" and you will not need special weapons to take these guys down.....

Well we are sorta on topic...just anti-occult... ;D
Spirit hosts sound very interesting....perhaps including spirits in machines to make them work.
How about various armies summoning local creatures- a US Army Shaman (give them a cool title like "Occult Officer") summoning Bigfoot etc alongside generic creatures (German summons mechanicly and occultly adapted wolves).
