Maquisards and the French Resistance in general will get looped into the Free French forces when we do them. Don't worry, we're not forgetting any of the major - or even minor - players in the war. You mean we can expect to see the Fijians sometime in 2020? (They're bloody tough- lots of them serve in the British Army today). There were a bunch at one of the FOB's I was at in Iraq. Those dudes are pure BADASS.

For the IJA some Bio/Chem weapons would be really cool. Like Chem Grenades and Chem throwers and such.
Also they could have a special rule called Fanaticism, or just have a higher base Drive.
Also Ninjas with a rule similar to the Lovat Snipers Guillie Siut.

You mean we can expect to see the Fijians sometime in 2020? Everyone else should see them much sooner. But YOU will have to wait until 2020. ;D

Also Ninjas with a rule similar to the Lovat Snipers Guillie Siut. Ninjas are something that was publically discussed for the game back in early 2008 (I think?) on the "This Week in Wargaming" podcast with Big Troy and Zac. The history and methods of the shinobi-nin are very different from other forces that were active in the war. I think you'll like the way they will be incorporated into the game when we get around to them. As for the bio and chem weapons, post some more ideas.

Heroes like Maciej for different factions would be good. If you do that, the base forces can be the same, with a different flavour for each army (like a stockman/drover stereotype Aussie, Fijian chief, whatever). Or even rules for making your own character hero, like the Pulp City BOOM rules.

I can see doing Hero types for all sorts of fun stuff. What types of Heros would you want for the Japanese?

For the Bio/Chem weapons maybe something like 2+d6 with no armour or cover saves as the substance eats througth armour and cover.

What types of Heros would you want for the Japanese? Some sort of Samurai Hero. Maybe he loses all his standard weapons in exchange for a pretty nasty Katana, and also more resistant to Drive loss. Some sort of Unit 731 Hero, like the German Lab Rat/Scientist or the American Technician. Give him some experimental virus grenades, or a rebreather that makes him immune to virus effects. As for weapons, a PIAT-like weapon that launches virus bombs could be interesting.

No matter what the drive factor for the Japanese would have to be different. They would be able to take less drive penalties from unit losses and the like. To fit with their indomitable spirit during the war. Just an idea. A Samurai General would be wonderful.

Lab rat type for a 731 character would definitely fit. You could also do a "thought police," agent of the Special Higher Police forces (Tokubestu Koto Keisatsu, also called the Tokko) who could be similar to the SD and OSS agents. A swordsman hero type would be very cool for Japanese, but also a master of covert warfare, a battlefield ninja without the silly black suit and mask. Goofy 80's movies...
But Japanese occult forces really interest me too. Something like an Oni officer (kinda like the Brute type maybe) would be sweet. Amid the Japanese lines, a huge hulking shape carrying a type 92MG with one hand and a club in the other... A mountain Oni like that would be the ultimate in cave/tunnel defense since they are said to see in the dark and have a bond with stone and rocks. Could have a less assuming oni officer wearing a Noh style mask on to hide his monstrous face and blend in with the humans... Or even a ninja-esque Kitsune who can steal the shape of the people she kills...

Something I had suspected was confirmed for me last night - Japan never signed the Geneva Convention (or, if they did, they practically ignored it). That might be a dangerous twist for the new Chaplain units in the Occult book.

To accurately reflect the way the Japanese fought, they should also get some kind of bonus for killing a medic. They deliberately shot medics whenever they could knowing that if you kill a medic you also kill all the wounded he might have helped.

If there is a Pacific Theater book I'd love to see Marine forces for the US! Maybe have a K-9 unit for the corps too but give them Dobermans. A good history of Marine war dogs can be found here: community-2.webtv.net/Hahn-50thAP-K9/K9History4/
